Zarinah’s lie was just so unfathomable to me. How did you take this man to a birthday party full of friends and no one addressed you by your name? Or how is this man delivering gifts to your job for Zarah without your coworkers questioning it? Better yet, how did he fly you to Paris without seeing your ID? I know this is a fictional story but there were just too many holes. Idk if I was more annoyed with Zarinah for her constant “guilt” or Lawson for his blatant blindness. I just have a hard time connecting with characters like Zarinah who play into the victim role. Zarah’s blackmailing of her was completely ruthless, but come on sis. At some point (a lot sooner than this book’s start) Zarinah should’ve taken accountability for her role in her father’s injury. She was not an innocent party. Moreover, I’m curious to know more about Zarah’s story. It was mentioned that she changed into this cold manipulative person as a teenager. That just screams SA to me. I’d love a story of her trauma and ultimate trauma response being healed through love.

Warning: spoilers!!

I need to vent! Honestly, each character worked my nerves. Starting with Alexis, I don’t think I’ve ever disliked a character as much as her. She literally slept with the football player for the sole purpose of miscarrying, then blamed him for it afterward. I thought her lies and antics were beyond sick throughout the course of each book, but she got it from her mother. How do you lie about being raped??? And Bing… for him to be such a resourceful man, how in the world did he believe her lie? Especially with Alexis knowing who her father was with a DNA test! And don’t get me started on Mercedes. All she had to do was sex her husband if she really wanted to keep him. Granted, he was dead wrong for his affair and misdeeds, but he was telling her repeatedly what he needed and she was still unwilling to accommodate him. Once he allowed her to be handcuffed though, I was done fighting their marriage too lol. I’m glad she got her get back at the end. Overall, I’m pretty sure this series gave me high blood pressure.

I just cannot get with this type of forbidden love. This is the ultimate betrayal, no matter how you spin it. Poor Cameron was the ultimate “loser” in the end. He lost his girl, career, and father.

First off, Jonathan is too malleable to be this “boss” he’s made out to be. How did he let Jaylin and Sylvia get in his head about Lisa, without doing his own research? He could’ve easily hired a private detective to get to the bottom of things. He straight up did Lisa wrong, and never apologized to her. I don’t blame Lisa for her behavior toward him at the end. And Sylvia, don’t even get me started! She is not the heroine of this story. She is a trash friend, disloyal, and delusional. Her and Jonathan are not deserving of a happily ever after. They both need therapy.
