Historia
Jo told him the phone call had been about a woman who wanted to have her husband declared dead. Smith thought for a moment and then said, 'Hmm. There must be a few million women in this country who feel like that. I take it her husband's been missing for a while and she's decided it's time to move on. In the absence of a body, which is always a nuisance, she wants Diver and Diver to confirm there's no proof he's alive. And I've told Jason a dozen times I'm not getting involved in anything matrimonial. I have enough trouble sorting out my own relationships.'

World Class Story and Narration

Confused by the love for the narration.
Revisado: 03-07-22
The story is great. The narration is so strange I'm going to buy the Kindle version. It seriously reminds me of Carroll O'Connor's portrayal of Archie Bunker on All In the Family. Which worked for a satire set in New York, but is so distracting in this book. I'm not sure if it's because I'm American and don't know the nuances of the Irish accent -- but I've listened to hundreds of books and there are some amazing Irish narrators on Audible. This one doesn't work for me. Sorry.

Weird Ending --
Revisado: 12-18-19
The ending came from left-field. Seriously it made very little sense. There was no real set-up for it -- no real clues. Just BAM -- here's the murderer. I have about 15 minutes to go and at this point I don't even care to hear any more. Sorry -- it had potential but failed to deliver. The author must have known this is where he was going -- but he gave no indication so it came as a total shock -- and not in a good way. Ugh. I feel like I wasted a few hours on a very unsatisfying book. I did enjoy the narration though.

Historia
Amber wakes up in a hospital. She can't move. She can't speak. She can't open her eyes. She can hear everyone around her, but they have no idea. Amber doesn't remember what happened, but she has a suspicion her husband had something to do with it. Alternating between her paralyzed present, the week before her accident, and a series of childhood diaries from 20 years ago, this brilliant psychological thriller asks: Is something really a lie if you believe it's the truth?

Revisado: 12-14-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Seriously. I'm not sure I would have enjoyed this story as much as I did if he were not reading this book. He paints amazing pictures with the author's words.
Have you listened to any of Will Patton’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is one of his best.

Sappy
Revisado: 08-04-14
Would you try another book from Linda Castillo and/or Kathleen McInerney?
Nope. I'm sorry I bought the 3rd one. I remember enjoying the 1st. But this one was sappy, painfully so. The narrator may have made it worse with her overly dramatic "heartfelt" this that and the other thing. Sorry -- just not for me.
Would you be willing to try another one of Kathleen McInerney’s performances?
I doubt it. Way too dramatic in a cloyingly sappy way. I returned another one she was reading after about 10 minutes because of the same thing. Granted -- some people may really like that style.
