Historia
The Work is simply four questions that, when applied to a specific problem, enable you to see what is troubling you in an entirely different light. As Katie says, "It's not the problem that causes our suffering; it's our thinking about the problem." Contrary to popular belief, trying to let go of a painful thought never works; instead, once we have done The Work, the thought lets go of us. At that point we can truly love what is, just as it is.

The mis-use of mirroring exercises is common to cults. Blame yourself for trauma done to you and you’ll be happy, blissful in fact. Your abused is a god, a Buddha sent to teach you how bad you are. Horrifying.

Historia
St Mary's has never lacked for enemies, but danger has never been closer to home. A state of war has broken out between St Mary's and the Women's Institute - the Raffia Mafia. Markham, Max, Peterson and Miss Sykes must jump to Restoration London in search of real Christmas pie - the honour of St Mary's is at stake. At least that how it all begins, but this is St Mary's after all.

A classic St Mary’s Christmas caper. As for the title challenge, I counted 16. No way was I going to eat 16 mince pies, so I changed it to sips from Christmas margaritas.

Historia
Miss Mildred Percy is a spinster. She does not dance, she has long stopped dreaming, and she certainly does not have adventures. That is, until her great uncle has the audacity to leave her an inheritance, one that includes a dragon’s egg. The egg—as eggs are wont to do—decides to hatch, and Miss Mildred Percy is suddenly thrust out of the role of “spinster and general wallflower” and into the unprecedented position of “spinster and keeper of dragons.” But England has not seen a dragon since…well, ever.

Totally charming tale narrated by the magnificent Zara Ramm
Revisado: 09-28-23
After listening to the entire St Mary’s series for the sixth time, I was looking around for something new. I stated my search by narrator and came a toss this book. It is very charming, strong female lead, fun premise. I listened over two days. Already downloaded volume two.

It had to happen. St Mary's is under investigation. Their director has been shot and Max is Number One Suspect. She needs to get away - fast - but dare she risk another jump so soon? And if she does, will it be a case of from the frying pan into the fire? We all know the answer to that one.

I wish the characters were real!
Revisado: 06-26-23
Jodi Taylor’s tea-soaked disaster magnets are some of my favorite fictional characters. I wish Max and Leon would move next door to me. It’s always amazing how Jodi takes tiny little insignificant-seeming seeds from previous books and creates full storylines in later volumes, and now connects in the Time Police series timelines. I hope Lady Amelia and Pennyroyal continue to show up in both series. Zara Ramm is a brilliant narrator, as usual.

Historia
Punching well above their weight, Max and Markham set out to bring down a sinister organisation founded in the future—with a suspicious focus on the past. Max's focus is staying alive long enough to reunite with Leon and Matthew, alternately helped and hindered by St Mary's—who aren't always the blessing they like to think they are. But non-stop leaping around the timeline—from witnessing Magna Carta to disturbing a certain young man with a penchant for gunpowder—is beginning to take its toll. Is Max going mad? Or are the ghosts of the past finally catching up with her?

My new favorite volume
Revisado: 06-16-22
Until this volume, my favorite was #4, a Trail Through Time. I listened to this one three times in a row. The always brilliant narrator, Zara Ramm brings life to these beloved characters. It’s Jodi Taylor’s best storyline yet. Looking forward to the next one!

If you care how chores were done in the 18th century in excruciating detail, this is your book
Revisado: 01-07-22
First, I love the series. I have read them all but the last in hardbound and have listened to the entire series on audiobooks at least 6 times. After 7 long years waiting for this book, I am more than disappointed. Actually angry. I am more than halfway through this behemoth and could literally summarize the story so far in one medium-sized paragraph. I feel that Diana Gabaldon threw this rambling POS together knowing that we’d all buy it. Shame on her. Even the always excellent Davina Porter can’t breathe life into this awful book. I read an interview with DG where she said she just sent her editors snippets as they occurred to her over the last 7 years and they put the book together. She said she was looking forward to reading it for the first time. You have got to be kidding me. Save yourself 50 hours and go find reviews with spoilers.

Historia
It's early 1938, and Maisie Dobbs is back in England. On a fine yet chilly morning, as she walks toward Fitzroy Square - a place of many memories - she is intercepted by Brian Huntley and Robert MacFarlane of the Secret Service. The German government has agreed to release a British subject from prison, but only if he is handed over to a family member. Because the man's wife is bedridden and his daughter has been killed in an accident, the Secret Service wants Maisie - who bears a striking resemblance to the daughter - to retrieve the man from Dachau....

Glad I didn’t stop after last volume’s snoozefest
Revisado: 09-03-21
I really did not like the last volume. Convoluted and slow with no real story. I debated abandoning the series but a friend recommended I stick with it. I was skeptical, but downloaded this volume. The story took off like a shot. No endless self-indulgent musings. A great listen.

Finally, Elizabeth Cage gets a sense of humor!
Revisado: 08-05-21
I love Chronicles of St Mary’s, Time Police and Frogmorton Farm series. This series, while good, lacked Jodi Taylor’s signature sense of humor and through the first 2 books and 2 narrators, seemed to struggle to find a voice, pun intended. Now with the third volume and the addition of the incomparable Zara Ramm as narrator, the story gets pace, sarcasm, humor and life. So glad I stuck with the series after the first two audiobooks.

Bad idea. Really bad idea.
Revisado: 08-28-20
I am a HUGE fan of the St Mary’s books and have probably listened to all of them, including the short stories at least 5 times each. If this had been my first exposure to these books, I would never have continued with the series. They turned Leon into a smarmy sexual harasser. Max is a flirty bimbo. Bairstow is ineffectual. Sorry, but this is just awful. Glad it was free as it saved me the trouble of returning it.

Historia
After two rollicking adventures through Western literature, resourceful literary detective Thursday Next definitely needs some downtime. And what better place for a respite than in the hidden depths of the Well of Lost Plots, where all unpublished books reside? But peace and quiet remain elusive for Thursday, who soon discovers that the Well is a veritable linguistic free-for-all, where grammasites run rampant, plot devices are hawked on the black market, and lousy books—like the one she has taken up residence in—are scrapped for salvage.

Tough going in the last third
Revisado: 06-20-20
I love this series, but almost didn’t finish this book. The only thing that kept me slogging through were the review of Book Four that say the next volume is sooooo much better. The last third of the book seems like the author was trying to win a contest to see who could cram the greatest number of gratuitous literary characters into a single chapter.
