Love Anne Tyler
Revisado: 04-13-22
With few exceptions I've enjoyed every Anne Tyler book I've ever read. I usually read them from a hard copy but I decided to try an audiobook of her work. I have only listened to non-fiction on my Audible selections up until now because I thought it may be hard to follow but it was very easy to follow and characters were distinct. I think this is one of Anne Tyler's better books. Real characters with relatable lives. I highly recommend this book.

Historia
Steve Gillon follows Lee Harvey Oswald for the 48 hours after the Kennedy assassination in search of answers to the question that has been troubling America for the past five decades: Why did he shoot JFK? The Warren Commission speculated that Oswald was simply a deranged sociopath. But recently declassified materials raise new troubling questions.

Get Pronunciation Correct
Revisado: 08-30-20
I have listened many audiobooks and articles about the Kennedy assassination and one glaring mispronunciation occurs regularly. This error should be very apparent to anyone who has read about, listened to or visited the site in Dallas. It is pronounced like DEALEY (as in deal) plaza not DAILEY. Either the narrator or if there's a "proof listener" or anyone interested in the subject should know the correct name of where our President was shot. This is a very common error and it's not cool to not know. Otherwise the book is pretty good. A lot of details are included although many of the "facts" presented in this book differ from other accounts of the incidents surrounding 11/22/63, such as what did Jack Ruby really say as he was about to shoot Oswald?

Historia
Take a Walk on the Dark Side is the ultimate book for today's rock and roll fan: a fascinating compendium of facts, fictions, prophecies, premonitions, coincidences, hoaxes, doomsday scenarios, and other urban legends about some of the world's most beloved and mysterious pop icons. Updating, revising, and expanding on material from his cult classic Hellhounds on Their Trail, Patterson offers up a delectable feast of strange and occasionally frightening rock and roll tales.

A REAL WALK ON THE DARK SIDE
Revisado: 05-10-20
I totally enjoyed this audiobook. I've read other works by R. Gary Patterson but wanted to read this one again. Too bad his other books are not available in audio form. This book is well organized, moves along quickly but still takes the time needed to completely cover the person or event being discussed. There's so much information, much of it unknown to many people and they will be surprised by some of the info on their favorite classic rock musician. I miss hearing Gary's interviews and will miss never having any new works by him. His stories are great, like the dirt from the crossroads! Wow. Very good book.

Historia
It's February 1964 and The Beatles just landed in New York City, where the NYPD, swarms of fans, and a crowd of two hundred journalists await their first American press conference. It begins with the question on everyone's mind: "Are you going to get a haircut in America?" and ends with a reporter tugging Paul McCartney's hair in an attempt to remove his nonexistent wig. This is where The History of Rock & Roll, Volume 2 kicks off.

All over the place
Revisado: 04-05-20
As someone who experienced the rise of classic rock & roll first hand and enjoy the evolution of this genre, this book is a big disappointment. I'm about 1/3 finished listening and hoping I can finish it since I bought the audiobook. The narration is flat, very little emotion or feeling is put into the reading. The "story" consists of a lot of names strung together with very little explanation of who they are or how they fit together in the overall history of this music. I find this listening very boring and uninformative. There are a few other titles about rock and other music on Audible, My suggestion is to look into other books and skip this one all together.

Disappointing
Revisado: 01-20-20
I enjoyed this audio book until the end. The narration is good and the story was interesting. However, (I won't ruin the end) the ending was very unsatisfactory. There should have been a better out come, no justice.
