Historia
Steve Saint was five years old when his father, missionary pilot Nate Saint, was speared to death by a primitive Ecuadorian tribe. In adulthood, Steve, having left Ecuador for a successful business career, never imagined making the jungle his home again. But when that same tribe asks him to help them, Steve, his wife, and their teenage children move back to the jungle. There, Steve learns long-buried secrets about his father's murder, confronts difficult choices, and finds himself caught between two worlds.

One of my favorite books
Revisado: 02-28-23
I was privileged to be able to visit the tribe in 2006, and then meet Mincaye again in the states afterwards. He was a beloved saint. So incredibly joyful and loving. He trusted God with all his heart. I so look forward to seeing him again soon.
I really enjoyed listening to Shadow of the Almighty, followed by Through Gates of Splendor (both by Elisabeth Elliot), then listening to this book. It paints a chronological picture of God giving the five missionaries and their families a heart for these people, how he orchestrated the events to initiate contact with the tribe, which resulted in their untimely deaths. Then this book picks up years later, where we get to see the fruit of those seeds, and the love these dear people now have for the Lord and for others. That fruit has reached far beyond the tribe itself. This story is so amazing. You'll laugh. You'll cry. You won't be disappointed.

Historia
Deep down here by the dark water lived old Gollum, a small slimy creature. I don’t know where he came from, nor who or what he was. He was Gollum—as dark as darkness, except for two big round pale eyes in his thin face. He had a little boat, and he rowed about quite quietly on the lake; for lake it was, wide and deep and deadly cold.

Andy Serkis is positively the best book narrator I've ever heard. Amazing job. Please have him narrate the LOTR books as well!

Historia
What happens when a nineteen-year-old boy leaves home and heads into the jungles to evangelize a murderous tribe of South American Indians? For Bruce Olson, it meant capture, disease, terror, loneliness, and torture. But what he discovered through trial and error has revolutionized the world of missions. Bruchko, which has sold more than 300,000 copies worldwide, has been called "more fantastic and harrowing than anything Hollywood could concoct."

The narration does get better
Revisado: 09-08-20
The first few chapters of this book are very hard to listen to. The narration is just plain bad. But it does improve. This story itself is amazing. You will not regret listening to it!

Historia
Millions are satisfied to sit through hour-long, weekly religious services. Millions more have left the church, brokenhearted and cynical. But God is waking up his people - people who will risk everything and sacrifice anything to become the dynamic, powerful church seen in Scripture. We Are Church calls Christ-followers, young and old, to hold fast to their biblical roots while seeking radical change. Scripture promises an exuberant and unstoppable church. That wondrous early church of acts can be our reality today.

Challenging and Encouraging
Revisado: 09-27-18
What an excellent book for the 21st century American church. I love the humble, loving attitude he takes toward Jesus's church, while challenging us to be more like the disciples we encounter in the New Testament. A must-read!
