Meh.
Revisado: 09-30-20
The other episodes are better. this one isn't as interesting imo. But Mr. Caine has a real way about him, and the production is great. I just wasn't a fan of this particular heist.

Historia
John Cleaver has called a demon - literally called it on the phone - and challenged it to a fight. He has faced two of the monsters already, barely escaping with his life, and now he's done running; he's taking the fight to them. But as he wades through his town's darkest secrets, searching for any sign of who the demon might be, one thing becomes all too clear: in a game of cat and mouse with a supernatural killer, the human is always the mouse.

A satisfying end to a really interesting story.
Revisado: 09-04-16
I don't normally read this kind of story. That is a weird thing to say though, because I am not sure there are other stories like this one. The themes of mental illness and identity are portrayed in a way that makes the reader wonder, not only about characters, but about themselves. I enjoyed listening to the series, but I enjoyed this conclusion most of all.
The performance was brilliantly read, and I don't normally think that about all the books I listen to. it takes a real strong performance to do a book justice. This is such a performance.
John isn't a normal teenager. But he is still a relatable character. And he isn't the only one. Each character portrayed is individually unique, and presents their own conflicts, conflicts I care about. Even if it is just how many grains Marcy's mom can stick in home made bread.
Bravo.

Super satisfying story.
Revisado: 09-02-16
Excellent imagery and an exciting pace. I always have fun reading or listening to David Wong's books, and this has been no different. Brilliantly put together. The reader was perfect, she made the whole story come to life. I recommend it to all of your friends.

This is his other book, PG and incomplete. So seriously, just read the other one, unless you're six years old. In which case, I don't fucking care, read/listen to the other one. Seriously. WTF?!

Loved the story... but....
Revisado: 06-20-15
So like other reviews have said, the baby talk pulls you out of it frequently. Enough that sometimes it made me want to turn off the audible. But I liked the story, very old school Nora. So if you are liking for something fresh you may be disappointed, this is a steady old romance that she is known best for. Strong female characters, mostly the women, boys sometimes seem to be there by accident. heh. But then again she is writing for women, so the strength and depth of the men is kind of inconsequential.

Nearly as good as Lord of Chaos, the performance is wonderful and brings life to the spectacular story.
