Great new series and characters
Revisado: 10-12-24
Really fun read much in the tradition of Thursday murder club, but with all new characters and foils, the narration was terrific the characters interesting and while a bit derivative from Thursday murders still fun and quirky. The resolution was a bit dicey, but the ride to it well worth the trip really hope the series continues.

Good story
Revisado: 09-18-24
Kept me reading and mostly liked the multiple points of view but the ghost story and its narrator were a bit over the top

Historia
In 1972, when workers in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, were digging the foundations for a new development, the last thing they expected to find was a skeleton at the bottom of a well. Who the skeleton was and how it got there were two of the long-held secrets kept by the residents of Chicken Hill, the dilapidated neighborhood where immigrant Jews and African Americans lived side by side and shared ambitions and sorrows. Chicken Hill was where Moshe and Chona Ludlow lived when Moshe integrated his theater and where Chona ran the Heaven & Earth Grocery Store.

Here is a timeless tale of waterside Britain that has been loved by generations of children and acclaimed as a classic. The story of Mole, Ratty, Badger, and Toad, and their escapades, whether messing about on the river or poop-pooping in Toad's shiny new car, cannot fail to enchant.

Great narration compelling story
Revisado: 02-06-23
Very well narrated and a really interesting story that’s a classic. I had never read there is a foolish chapter in the middle and a bit of a disappointing end but overall well worth a read if you’ve never read it and well worth telling your children.

Historia
On the morning of April 29, 1986, a fire alarm sounded in the Los Angeles Public Library. As the moments passed, the patrons and staff who had cleared out of the building realized this was not the usual false alarm. As one fireman recounted later, “Once that first stack got going, it was good-bye, Charlie.” The fire was disastrous: It reached 2,000 degrees and burned for more than seven hours. By the time it was extinguished, it had consumed 400,000 books and damaged 700,000 more.

Enjoyable mess of a book
Revisado: 10-21-22
There was a lot to love about this book with some great stories the compelling interest around a library interesting characters and a great mix of history and current times. You will learn a lot about libraries of the past and where libraries are headed. The downsides are a narrative that keeps flipping back-and-forth it makes it a bit hard to know what’s next of times. And the narrator who really should get someone else to read her books for her as she doesn’t have the chops to do a compelling job of this and her attempt at speaking Spanish or German etc. are just terrible and the times almost feel racist. She’s a professional writer she should get a professional reader.
