Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Not a fantasy reader, but holy cow, what a great book!
Revisado: 04-23-24
As stated, I'm not a fantasy type reader, most of my books are STEM related because I'm a nerd. I had a friend recommend this book to me so I grabbed it and gave it a go. So happy that I did!
Great story line and great narrator. She was able to keep me interested in the story and wanting more. So, I grabbed the next book in the series...

Absolutely adorable story. Everyone knows that cats are better. Those who say otherwise are just in denial. :)
The dolphins though, their story line tracks.
If you are looking for a funny, lighter story, you will enjoy this title. Wil Wheaton did a wonderful job bringing the characters to life in this delightful tale.

This is a really good sci-fi book. I normally don't buy sci-fi, real-sci (yes, I just made that weird up) is my normal go-to, but since I listen to his podcast "Space Nuts" I thought I'd give it a try.
I'm glad I did.

Great story!!
Revisado: 07-31-22
Very good story here. Like any really good story it takes you down one path and then hits you in the face with a major right hook.
It's amazing how you can grow to hate a character and hope to see them killed or written off, only to switch to sympathy and empathy.
Excellent performance!!

I've listened to this book multiple times. The story and the performance are both great! The Barb is the top sub of WWII, so sit back, relax, listen and learn, and splice the main brace.

Historia
Terry Crews spent decades cultivating his bodybuilder physique and bravado. On the outside, he seemed invincible: he escaped his abusive father, went pro in the NFL, and broke into the glamorous world of Hollywood. But his fixation with appearing outwardly tough eventually turned into an exhausting performance in which repressing his emotions let them get the better of him—leading him into addiction and threatening the most important relationships in his life. Now Crews is sharing the raw, never-before-told story of his quest to find the true meaning of toughness.

Not a sports book, yippee!
Revisado: 06-05-22
Nothing against sports books, but this is better.
I have to applaud Terry for being brutally honest in this book. There are parts that you would think that he would gloss over, but he doesn't hide anything.
Terry is really good at creating distinct voices for the different people in his life.
Very entertaining story with a good amount of happy but also with some sad. The book didn't feel long and slow with drawn out details of what the skies looked like. Terry keeps the pace up to keep you into the story. There are times when more than usual detail is provided but only if it is needed.
Overall it's a good book.

I love the way that you talk about the ritual without talking about the ritual! As a newly minted WM, of a small but wonderful lodge, I am taking notes so that we can have this type of discussion in our lodge.
I stumbled across your podcast with the corn, wine and oil episode, the very night I was at a Masters and Wardens meeting going thru the second degree workshop!
Thanks for the great podcast!

Historia
Navigating poverty, violence, and instability, a young James Plummer had two guiding stars - a genius IQ and a love of science. But a bookish nerd is a soft target, and James faced years of bullying and abuse. As he struggled to survive his childhood in some of the country’s toughest urban neighborhoods in New Orleans, Houston, and LA, and later in the equally poor backwoods of Mississippi, he adopted the persona of “gangsta nerd” - dealing weed in juke joints while winning state science fairs with computer programs that model Einstein’s theory of relativity.
