Historia
An orchestral conductor has been found dead and Detective Inspector Jack Robinson needs the delightfully incisive and sophisticated Miss Fisher's assistance. Hugh Tregennis has been murdered in a most flamboyant mode by a killer with a point to prove. But how many killers is Phryne really stalking? At the same time, the dark curls and disdainful air of mathematician and code-breaker Rupert Sheffield are taking Melbourne by storm. They've certainly taken the heart of Phryne's old friend from the trenches of WWI, John Wilson. Phryne recognises Sheffield as a man who attracts danger and is determined to protect John from harm.

forced myself to finish it
Revisado: 01-27-20
This was a disjointed rehash of occurrences from previous books strung together with endless musical episodes, a homosexual love story involving two pathetic individuals brought together by Phryne in what another reviewer described as a soft porn
episode. Unfortunately I could find no redeeming value to it. Eleven hours of this !

Historia
French's department store was famous for the rare merchandise it offered its elite clientele. But no one there could be proud of its latest exclusive window display: the bloodstained corpse of the owner's wife. Ellery Queen and his father, Inspector Richard Queen, soon discover that this palace of commerce is a viper's nest of fear, jealousy, suspicion, and hatred, where love is cheap and the price of honor marked down. But worst of all is the mysterious mocking mastermind who is out to turn the glittering store into a bargain basement of murder.

Nostalgia
Revisado: 09-29-13
Would you listen to The French Powder Mystery again? Why?
I first read these books 60+ years ago so this has been an indulgence in nostalgia.
While much seems dated, after ninety years the basic plot is still timely. So much
for the war on drugs.
What does Robert Fass bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I was concerned about listening to the book and were it available would have preferred
to read it again. The narrator does a good reading but sounds too old for Ellery.

Then the body of an internet pornographer is found sprawled on the rocks at the base of Newport’s famous Cliff Walk.

Historia
The outcry when Conan Doyle pushed Sherlock Holmes over the Reichenbach Falls and the dismay when Freeling shot Van der Valk are as nothing compared to the chaos that ensues when Lorinda Lucas tries to dispose of Miss Petunia and her siblings, Lily and Marigold. Not only does the lid blow off the fictional village of St. Waldemar Boniface, but the literary colony of Brimful Coffers is shaken to its foundations.

Clever and entertaining
Revisado: 08-22-10
As a long time Marian Babson fan I have never been disappointed. She has written not
only her own characters but whole chapters of books which they (mystery writers)
are writing. It is disappointing that so few of her books are in audio.
