When Prophecy Fails: A Social and Psychological Study of a Modern Group That Predicted the Destruction of the World is a landmark work of social psychology by Leon Festinger, Henry Riecken, and Stanley Schachter which was published in 1956. The book examines the case of a UFO cult in Chicago called the Seekers, their expectation of an imminent apocalypse, and their coping mechanisms after the event did not occur.

The narration is aweful!
Revisado: 12-22-22
The narration of this audio book is sub par. It sounds like it is read by a computer program and, occasionally, some words that have been mispronounced are left in the recording, along with their correction. This is an unprofessional recording, and it's disappointing that Amazon has no quality control that can ensure customers don't spend money on such sloppy products.

Historia
The Trump administration’s “Peace to Prosperity” vision for the Middle East was unveiled on January 28, 2020. What followed over the next eleven months was one of the most fascinating and consequential periods of US foreign policy in a generation, leading to five normalization agreements between Israel and Muslim states. The Abraham Accords achieved what had seemed impossible for decades and set the Middle East on a trajectory toward a broad regional peace.

A lot of self-congratulations, not much details about the actual diplomacy
Revisado: 12-04-22
I can’t say I learned much about the inner workings of diplomacy in the Middle East from this book. I did learn a lot about Lightstones political views. I guess that’s also something.

Historia
In Modern Social Imaginaries, Taylor continues his recent reflections on the theme of multiple modernities. To account for the differences among modernities, Taylor sets out his idea of the social imaginary, a broad understanding of the way a given people imagine their collective social life. Retelling the history of Western modernity, Taylor traces the development of a distinct social imaginary.

Important book, monotonous narration
Revisado: 06-06-21
The book is a clear and important account of the development of the modern sense of moral order. The narration, however, sounds almost as if it was done by a computer program and not a real person. The narrator also seems to not know how to properly pronounce some of the names (e.g., Weber should be pronounced “Veber”).
