Since I have had my eye on the Tinder Surprise trilogy for a while now, I jumped at the chance to give the audiobook a listen - and I am so very glad I did! While there is no doubt that Sakinaa Davies is a wonderful author, with a smart, sophisticated style that resonates so well with the female dominant perspective, it was the sultry, commanding voice of narrator Sierra Kline that really made this come alive for me. While I rarely reread stories once they are done, I could easily see myself laying back, closing my eyes, and listening to this again.

Chastity Awakening, the first part of the story, skips the preamble and thrusts us right into the heart of the affair. Already desperate in chastity, Ethan arrives at Mistress Alexis' hotel room, ready to commit - and, in this case, commitment means bending over, spreading wide, and accepting his first real penetration. As quick as she is to get into the action, however, Davies is in no rush to reach a climax. This is an exquisitely detailed, deliciously drawn-out story, where every moment of tease, temptation, and arousal is captured for the reader's attention.

With the second part of the story, Rosebud Defloration, we skip back in time to explore how Ethan and Alexis met, how he fell under her spell, and to what lengths she went to test his commitment. It is interesting to see how two very different personalities first met, and to watch her transformation from elegant lady in a bar, to dominating Lady in a hotel room. There is a lot of first-time anal play here, something that would be a few quick scenes in most books, but which is satisfyingly explored in great depth. While Davies does not shy away from virginal discomfort, she ensures that Mistress Alexis takes her time, slowly opening her slave, and allowing him to become accustomed to such intimate submission without unnecessary pain to confuse his emotions.

With Orgasm Ruination, we continue on from that second part of the story, ready to see just how Ethan will follow through on his foolish boast of making her feel like a lady not once, not twice, but three times. The BDSM elements of female domination really come into the scene here, complete with handcuffs, blindfolds, ballgags, headphones, and the inventive use of a luggage cart as a restraint table. Mistress Alexis shows her cruel streak here, putting Ethan through his paces as she asks questions he cannot answer, and then punishes him with some pulses of electricity, directly into his manhood. By the time the question of chastity comes about, there is no doubt that he will say yes.

As a story, Tinder Surprise is one of the better female domination stories I have read in quite some time, and probably one of the best pegging stories I have ever come across. I suspect I will be giving her Coffeeshop Dominatrix series a read before long. As an audiobook, it is far-and-away the most pleasurable I have ever listened to - so much so that I already have my eye on a few other titles that Kline has narrated.

A someone whose caffeine fix of choice is pop, not coffee, I love the idea of Gender Pop - a fizzy, fruity soft drink that has the power to transform your gender for up to 6 hours. All you have to do is drink, think feminine thoughts, and enjoy.

It is a decidedly silly story, with the soda having the power to change clothes as well as bodies, but it is a lot of fun. Given its lighthearted nature, Rebecca Cromer is a perfect narrator for Jessie Ash's story, capturing the tone and the spirit perfectly. I genuinely smiled all the way through, especially with the cute little twist at the end.

While there is a fun bit of heterosexual flirting here, the sexual element is largely lesbian-oriented, with a little seduction involved. It is undeniably sexy, but not as explicit as you would find in so many other stories within the genre.

Now, if you will excuse me, I have an order to place for case of Gender Pop.

One of the most original books I have encountered in quite some time, Bangkok Noir is a story that I felt was somewhat unbalanced in its straddling of genres, but well-told, and exquisitely detailed. Lisabet Sarai captures the essence of the Bangkok experience beautifully, delivering on the language quirks and cultural nuances that really serve to orient the reader in the world of Diana and her girls.

Let me address that straddling of genres first. This is a story comprised of erotica, murder mystery, and thriller, with the erotica looming large over the narrative, but with the murder mystery dominating the reader's thoughts. I actually expected more of the murder mystery, given the gruesomeness of the killings and the way they serve to bring all the characters together, but it remains in the background for much of the story. As for the erotica element, it (no pun intended) dominates the story, with several relationships, dominant figures of different genders, and as much pain as pleasure. It is there where Diana - the Professor - really comes into her own, although she is a caring woman and a smart businesswoman outside the dungeon.

As for the plot, it is somewhat serpentine, winding through different subplots along the way. Sarai does a fantastic job of maintaining the suspense, giving us just enough clue to suspect several different people of being the killer, yet never makes us feel cheated as the truth is revealed. The subplot involving the offer to buy Diana's bar, and the exploration of just how dark the upper class can be, is fascinating as well, introducing even more suspicions.

While I am sure the culture would have come across well in the reading, listening to Bangkok Noir as an audiobook really brings Bangkok to life. I struggled with it a bit as first, but once I settled in, it really worked for me, Jazmin Kensington does an amazing job of capturing the different voices and nailing the different accents, even varying the speed with which each character talks.

This is a dark story that takes a realistic look at the professional BDSM lifestyle, and which deals with the pressures that make such release valuable, if not essential to emotional survival.

The perfect fantasy of feminine magic, love, and e

There was so much to love about The Witches of Gloucester that I hardly know where to begin. Actually, I guess I do. Before I get to the wonderful story and characters created by Lisabet Sarai, I have to say a few words about Lorraine Walters, who made them come alive in the audiobook version. Walters tells the story beautifully, from her pacing to her tone, and imbues each personality with a voice. I often struggle to lose myself in a narrator's voice, but here it felt natural.

As for the always lovely Lisabet Sarai, she has crafted the perfect fantasy of feminine magic, love, and empowerment. Marguerite and Beryl, the witches who watch over the ocean-side town just 20 miles away from infamous Salem, are just wonderful. They are bold, happy, confident women, as closely attuned to the tides of nature as they are to those of the heart. They are a bit mysterious, and can be almost frighteningly assertive when the situation calls for it, but they are genuinely warm and funny.

Emmeline is the much younger woman who comes to their attention, not just a delectable plaything for their Sapphic amusement, but potentially the missing third to their witch's circle. She is so beautifully written that watching her give herself unto her power is almost as delightful as watching her give herself unto her loving teachers. As much as magic and destiny play a part here, this is not a tale of insta-love and insta-lust. Emmeline doubts herself, fears her power, and fights her own arousal, afraid to trust in its truths. Even after her first passionate evening with Marguerite and Beryl, she still struggles to understand her place in this new world.

What struck me most about the story, however, is the way in which Sarai makes Gloucester a part of the story. This is a story that is sprinkled with the language of the ocean, and drenched in imagery of water. Waves, tides, peaks . . . swimming, floating, drowning . . . everything that happens does so in proximity to either the language of water or the setting of the ocean. I cannot count how many times I surfaced from the story to marvel over a turn of phrase or just luxuriate in a particular image. It is a book where the telling of the story is as beautiful as the story itself.

The Witches of Gloucester is just about everything I could have asked of a fantasy about lesbian witches. It has characters to love, a setting that you can see and smell, magic that crackles upon the page, and an eroticism that resonates deep within heart, soul, and body. I would gladly read a massive doorstop of a novel about these women, and do hope Sarai crosses their circle again.
