Historia
The Roman Republic was one of the most remarkable achievements in the history of civilization. After its founding in 509 BCE, the Romans refused to allow a single leader to seize control of the state and grab absolute power. The Roman commitment to cooperative government and peaceful transfers of power was unmatched in the history of the ancient world. But by the year 133 BCE, the republican system was unable to cope with the vast empire Rome now ruled.

The background music makes this unliatenable
Revisado: 11-16-18
Can't tell if I'll enjoy the story or the narration. the music keeps me out of the story. it just doesnt maych up with the story content. it would be like listening to the radio while trying to watch a movie with the sound at the same level as the radio.

"Gimbals" are not pronounced with a J...
Revisado: 05-12-18
Great Series, this latest installment is certainly good, though not great. But, we'll see how it fleshes out in the next novel in December.
But I swear, if I hear the narrator pronounce gimbals with a J one more time, I'm starting a letter writing campaign to every outlet that carries the audio book. It's like being poked in the eye when you are least expecting it while reading. Not fun. And, frankly, it shouldn't happen. Whoever is responsible for producing the audio book should have had an editor or proof listener take the time to make sure the material didn't have things like amateurish mispronunciations in them.

Too many important technical goofs
Revisado: 03-02-18
it was a decent story till the last 2 chapters. then it went completely off the rails. one spoiler ro make the point. You can't destroy the moon without killing the planet. but the author does with tge expectation life will be able to go on more or less as mormal.
Overall, it might have been an interesting story if it wasn't for the plot holes you could pass the moon through... litterally.

Historia
The war with the Arduans - profoundly alien invaders who originally arrived in STL ships - is over. Most of those attackers are now probationary (and very productive) citizens of the Rim Federation. However, many among the Arduans' warrior caste have accepted neither defeat nor the personhood of any of the other intelligence races. Their leader, the ruthless admiral of the second Arduan exodus, Amunsit, is in firm control of the Zarzuela system.

What happened to the writing!?!??
Revisado: 09-18-16
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
There are I think, for science fiction fans, certain things about physics one can lie about, and some things one just can't. The writer in this one crossed the line. Sure, get fancy with quantum physics, but standard old Einsteinian and Newtonian physics, nope, sorry you just can't make things up. For instance , a fist sized object moving at 90% light speed hitting an ocean is not going to cause very much problem for a world. It certainly is not going wipe most of a population out. Just in case your wondering, that' about 10Mt worth of bang. So why am I making a point of this.... when I hear something completely wrong technically, I loose my suspension of disbelief, and can't stay in the story. And THAT is what a writer is supposed to be doing. painting a rich tapestry that I can get embroiled in and care about. Nearly every battle in this book got derailed because of some glaring technical inaccuracy.
I still can recommend the book because the over all pot is good, but the technical storytelling in this one is awful!
Would you be willing to try another book from Steve White and Charles E. Gannon ? Why or why not?
I will be listening to the next book if for not other reason that this one was a cliff hanger ending, and I want to know what happens.
Which character – as performed by Marc Vietor – was your favorite?
Marc does an excellent job narrating the characters in the book. He gets a lot of exercise with this one as there are a LOT of characters in this one!
Could you see Imperative being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
I can't see making this book in the series in to a movie or even a TV show, unless it was going to be some schlock done by the SciFi channel. Too much technically wrong.
Any additional comments?
I hope some one can get back to the Author on this one about the tech details going too far astray. The rest of the series has been great! And I highly recommend books 1-6.

Nate had never expected to see a real war, but that was a month ago. Back when he'd been a video gamer with dreams of space combat. Now he was a pilot in Knighthawk Squadron and in the middle of a violent warzone. The Star Empire and its vast legions are utterly committed to the elimination of the shattered Byotai Empire. They are ruthless and ambitious beyond measure.

Thought I'd accidently sped up playback!
Revisado: 02-12-16
This is, by far the worst performance of an audio book I have ever heard. I spent 5 minutes checking and rechecking that I hadn't accidentally sped up the playback. There was little emotion put in to the reading as well. Plot and story detail were mediocre for the 15minutes I endured listening to this before I gave up.

A bit slow paced and a tiny bit repedatibe bur overall a good read. The narrator really needs to proof his own work though...
