Historia
For all the thousands of books that have been written about religion, few until this one have attempted to examine it scientifically: to ask why - and how - it has shaped so many lives so strongly. Is religion a product of blind evolutionary instinct or rational choice? Is it truly the best way to live a moral life? Ranging through biology, history, and psychology, Daniel C. Dennett charts religion’s evolution from “wild” folk belief to “domesticated” dogma.

Boring and full of generalizations.
Revisado: 10-10-19
I stopped listening to this book in the middle of chapter 3. The book is nothing but a droning list of generations that anyone could conclude. So your not learning anything new. Don’t waste your time.
It also does not help that the narrator is monotonous and disinterested in the subject. It’s like he’s reading a technical manual.

Historia
When marine private Oliver Chadwick Gardenier is killed in the marine barrack bombing in Beirut, somebody who might be Saint Peter gives him a choice: Go to heaven, which, while nice, might be a little boring, or return to earth. The Boss has a mission for him, and he's to look for a sign. He's a marine: He'll choose the mission. Unfortunately, the sign he's to look for is "57". Which, given the food services contract in Bethesda Hospital, creates some difficulty. Eventually it appears that God's will is for Chad to join a group called Monster Hunters International.

Very disappointed.
Revisado: 02-06-19
Larry Correia has lost it. This book is tedious and boring. He allowed too much of his divisive politics into this book. It’s sad. Most of the other books are very entertaining.

Boring naive stories
Revisado: 03-04-14
None of the short stories in this book are memorable, entertaining, or mildly thought provoking. Only one of the six stories well written at all.
The only people who might like these stories are extreme environmentalists who fantasize about a day when we all ride around in bicycles and have 100% sustainability.

Historia
The system was simple. Everyone understood it. Books were for burning, along with the houses in which they were hidden. Guy Montag was a fireman whose job it was to start fires. And he enjoyed his job. He had been a fireman for ten years, and he had never questioned the pleasure of the midnight runs or the joy of watching pages consumed by flames, never questioned anything until he met a seventeen-year-old girl who told him of a past when people were not afraid.

I am glad that I revisited this classic.
Revisado: 11-08-13
I read this book many years ago and liked it then. I just read it again and I cannot believe how awestruck I am. When you consider that this story was first published in 1953 and the future that Mr. Bradbury envisioned, he was quite prophetic.
Ray imagined rooms with entire walls that were televisions. Ads were targeted towards each individual viewer. Instant gratification was required by society. Entertainment is inane, shallow, and pre-digested. Porn is in 3D. Society is so self absorbed and focused on immediate happiness that they cannot see their society crumbling and oncoming nuclear holocaust. Our society with its large screen TVs, targeted internet ads, reality TV shows, news headlines that focus more on celebrity gossip, and our never ending cycle of wars is not to different from what Ray imagined.
I wish that more people would read this book. If they did, they would see the parallels that I see and maybe they would reconsider how they view the world.

Surprisingly good.
Revisado: 11-02-13
My expectations were that this was a children's story. I was surprised to find out that it is not. It is actually a sitcom intended for an adult audience if you think about it. And some of the bits could be quite funny if they were written in a modern style.

Too bland.
Revisado: 11-02-13
This review is about the entire series:
I am a big fan of John G. Hemry, and I realize that this is his first series. My major objection to this entire series is that the language is too clean. John is censoring the language and it takes away from the realism of the combat. Why does he do this? I do not know. I find it frustrating that language is more offensive than describing people getting their limbs torn off.
Let’s face facts. Combat is a dirty, ugly business. Combat soldiers swear, and call their enemies some of the most racist, ugly names you can imagine. This series lacked the grit that would have made it exciting and believable.
The only redeemable thing about this entire story is the underlying messages. But it is simply not worth putting up with the oatmeal blandness. I want gumbo!

This review is of the entire trilogy:
After an interesting beginning, I was so hoping that there would be something about the main character that would make her interesting. Unfortunately that never happened. I was so disappointed. She was quite dull and shallow.
The author was too predictable. One of the problems I had was with how she would always kill off potential mates of the main character. Some of them started of quite interesting and likable. Yet you knew they were going to die like red shirted crewmen on Star Trek.
Most male characters were cookie cutter as well. They were mostly self centered, shallow, and misogynistic. Very few were worthy and noble. If they were, they were killed off by the author.
It is sad. There were a lot of missed opportunities with this series.
The narrator was not very good either. She is pretty flat and emotionless. She did not help the story at all.
Overall, I recommend passing on this series. There is nothing redeemable.
