I enjoy parts of this series

(possible spoilers) I like some concepts of this series. However I feel like I was let down for the main story arc. I would have liked to see what would have happened had the main character actually achieved them. So I feel rather let down by that.

Enough "Niceguy™"

Great ideas and plot threads that go nowhere

I really want wanted to like this story, I did, but I couldn't finish this one. The narrator I think does a good job creating the inner voice of the main character. It is however completely offset by the annoying meandering plot.
This author creates interesting plot threads and then gets distracted by another less interesting one and the rambles on and on and on about it and then never revisit the original one. This is the 3rd book I have listened to and read by this author and I am getting annoyed with how there is little to no payoff for my efforts.

Eric didn't ask to be a vampire. In fact he didn't even believe in them. Biting your own tongue with your fangs does a lot of convincing. Even so, being a part-time undead isn't as easy as you might think. It can let you hold down a day job, true, but sometimes the night "life" can be more than a little difficult, what with those bloodthirsty urges and predatory instincts kicking in.
