The dead have risen, and they are hungry. They are tough, they are lethal, and they are everywhere. Savage packs of the undead wander the world, feeding on the living. And they are getting stronger... In Brattleboro, Vermont, John Mason and his beautiful young wife Sara believe that family can survive anything. When the apocalypse arrives they pack food, clothing, and weapons, then hit the road with their dog seeking refuge in the mountains of John's youth.

never finished the series
Revisado: 06-26-23
fun romp that was left on a cliffhanger, sprague claimed his dog/computer crash ate the sequel ( like a decade ago) and then he subsequently ignored his fan base. basically pulled a Rothfuss.
its a shame. guess the loss of his manuscript took the wind out of his sails.

Historia
Faced with war and the end of the world, Eric - or Halar the First, King of Karvalen - must find a way to stop a godlike entity bent on his destruction. His quest will be no easy thing, not a straight line to his goal, but even he can't anticipate just how far it will lead him on this epic journey. He will have to go farther than he can imagine from everything he has ever cared about before he can even begin a new journey - a journey home. Can he save the world and the people he loves? And, in so doing, will he be able to save himself?

Relfan rebooted without the fun stuff
Revisado: 04-07-21
terribly disappointing, starts out interesting enough with some gratifying world-hopping, some cross-over love with Mark Tufos work. tgen decends into a mediocre blathering about what basically amounts to a carbon copy of the neo-medieval world hes left behind that Garon had nuked....no Mary, no Diogenes, no alternate worlds, just 25-30 hours of what felt like a world reboot...ugh...im a fairly disappointed and wish he had stuck with the characters he carefully crafted and got us to invest in....but no....instead we get basically a "do over Reflan"
the ONLY thing keeping me in the story is Sean Runnettes amazing narration.
