Historia
Since the days of conquistador Hernán Cortés, rumors have circulated about a lost city of immense wealth hidden somewhere in the Honduran interior, called the White City or the Lost City of the Monkey God. Indigenous tribes speak of ancestors who fled there to escape the Spanish invaders, and they warn that anyone who enters this sacred city will fall ill and die.

Don't read this if you are interested in adventure
Revisado: 09-26-17
First, let me make it clear that I did not finish this book. You will only find this interesting if you are a true devotee of archaeology. The first four hours, of the ten hour book, are background. The next two are the time at the actual site of the discovery and there is little to interest a layman. Then we begin the reactions to the discovery by the scientific community. I stopped at that point. Having read other Douglas Preston and Douglas Preston/Lincoln Child books, I am baffled at how uninvolving and uninteresting this book is.

Historia
When Michelle receives a call from a Richmond historian, she sees the chance for a much-needed adventure. All she has to do is find a century-old key. Three others - a guitarist, an engineer, and a retiree - receive similar calls. Each family possesses a key to a four-lock safe found buried in a Virginia courthouse, though their connection is as mysterious as the safe itself.

Poorly written and narrated
Revisado: 04-16-15
To be honest, I'm not sure if the poorly developed plot and characters contributed to the poor narration or if they were equally to blame. The only good thing about this book was that it was only 6 1/2 hours long (although it seemed like 10).

From the blockbuster bestselling author of the Eve Duncan novels comes a new, stand alone thriller about a woman with a photographic memory who has lived her life in the Witness Protection Program. What she once put her entire family in jeopardy and now, years later, her cover is blown. She’s on the run, and the lives of those she holds dear hang in the balance. As only Iris Johansen can do, you won’t see the twists coming.

Unusual outcome for me
Revisado: 03-30-15
Generally I am very driven by character development, particularly when the plot line is rather ho-hum. Unfortunately, in this instance, I wasn't captivated by either of the main characters or their story lines. So, in a very unusual outcome for me, I stopped listening about two thirds of the way thru the book. Just didn't care to finish.
The narration was fine.

Stands the test of time
Revisado: 01-30-13
I read this book years and years ago and vaguely remembered the storyline. Listening to it this time reminded me of what a great story it is and how odd, and sad, that we still face the same problems in 2013 that existed in 1959. Thoroughly enjoyable story and characters. The book makes you think about what you would do in the same situation.

Historia
In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue - Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is - she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

Engrossing story
Revisado: 01-30-13
I found this book to be entertaining and engrossing, with good character development. The author's descriptions of places was very good and I kept picturing the locations and how the landscape would appear in a movie.

Historia
On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

Thought provoking story
Revisado: 11-28-12
The story is very thought provoking. I thoroughly enjoyed the descriptions of the 1950s-60s and, as usual, King fleshes out wonderful characters. I found the narration to be excellent.
