Disappointing - and an exact copy of another (better) book

Did the authors have LaVyrle Spencer’s permission to rewrite her “Small Town Girl”?Disappointing. I’ve had this on my wish list since it was published years ago, finally picked it up during a sale. This might have been written by a teenager. No character development, no relationship development. It is also shockingly similar to Spencer’s story, which is a far superior book. Small town girl takes off for Nashville and never looks back; sister makes her come home to pull her weight with ailing parent; boy-next-door/single dad with a delightful daughter who’s got a girl crush on the country superstar… check out “Small Town Girl” for a much better book.

Too much melodrama

This book has been on my to-be-read list for years. I endured the story, endured Ella, and then the story took one more plot twist that just seemed unnecessary and ruined it all for me. I just didn’t think the wringer made the story any better. I rarely regret reading a book but here I am, relieved to move onto something else. The writing and the performance are both excellent, but no t looking for melodrama where it isn’t needed.

Was this book written by a teen?? Lots of high school hallway type drama and pervy sex between a teen and a 30-something. I barely finished it, and can advise that it goes nowhere interesting. Save the credit and if you’re an Audible Escape listener, save your 16 hours.

What more can I say?

I LOVE this book, and this narration. The H is adorable, the h is adorable, her group of friends are so real and adorable, her dad is adorable... amazing slow burn, realistic first dates and efforts to have fun with other guys when the H is off-limits... this is is one of my top repeat listens, along with Wall of Winnipeg and Wait for It. Books where everything comes together perfectly.

Tooooo Slooooowwww

Seriously, I’m mildly interested in the outcome of each of these books but holy crap I’m having a hard time getting through to the end. Two-for-two on the Pick Up The Pace verdict. More than once I almost put it down for good. Hoping Logan’s book is a bit more economical.

Story-wise I have to give a thumbs-down as it wound down. Reality takes a rain check at the little guy’s birthday party. Ethan proves to be a hunky lunkhead.

Actually started ok, but struggled to finish

Pretty simplistic. Ok, we can roll with the premise but lord, the contrived meetings... the camping trip... her parents... her MOM... and then HIS family! Throwing Griffin a party?? Really?? How freaking old must we be to find that endearing or funny? And finally, because I just can’t NOT say anything: CHEESY lobster bisque?? You’d be laughed out of Maine. Sigh. Sorry. This really long book could be contained in a brief Harlequin format.

Pretty elementary but the narration was good, with the material provided. A lot of overdone smack talk. Tries to hard. Most exciting moment: cameo from Gundersen from the “Douchebag” series, LOL.
