I love Thomas Perry and I love Jane Whitefield, but the quality of this recording was poor. I’m not sure if it was the editing but it seemed to skip. I still enjoyed it, but I was not impressed with the production.

This was far and away the best memoir I’ve ever read/listened to. It was beautifully written and Julia Whelan was pitch-perfect. It felt like I was sitting in a room with a friend, hearing her story and crying with her as she told it. The writing was amazing, the story compelling and the end filled with hope. I loved every minute of it.

I was very disappointed with this book. I thought the quality of the production was good and the narrator was great but I almost stopped listening to it once and now that I finished it, I wish I had.

I just finished The Steel Kiss and really enjoyed it. Deaver consistently delivers and I like that. I also really enjoyed Eduardo Ballerini's narration. He is pitch perfect -- not overly dramatic, no odd emphatic quirks or weird pronunciations and does a credible woman's voice as well. Narrators can make or break an audiobook experience for me and this guy really makes it.

As a Peter Robinson fan, I was excited about this new stand-alone novel based in the States, but I found myself disappointed. The story was ok, the characters were likable and interesting enough for the most part, but some of the dialogue seemed hackneyed and I was not fond of the narrator (which is the main reason for this review.) His voice is nice but he has this way of drawing out certain words that almost sounds like a masculine version of "Val Speak." I know the story is based in LA but still, I found the uptick at the end of every third or fourth sentence annoying -- especially when I heard myself do it once or twice.

The book was fine....entertaining enough and with good narration...but every time the narrator read the title of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual Five (the Roman numeral is spelled out when referring to the title in speech) as the DSM Vee It made me crazy. Where were the editors or fact-checkers? Argh!
