Much more than the simple title.

This book was so much more than I expected It has layers and layers of complexity and meaning. It is just as good if not better then the SJM books. Give it some time to let it world build and get to know all the players in the story. Buy the end of this book you'll be sacrificing all your credits to get the next ones in the series. I'm on book 2 now and the story is developing well,. The narrator does an excellent job giving life to all the characters

Read the book

I started to read the book and then was intrigued enough to get the audio. I am sorry but this narrator ruined it for me, I had to go back to the book then thought, maybe I was being too hard. I went back to the audio book for the end, and no, I was right. I ended up playing it extra fast to get it over with. I hope to revisit this book again with a second reading. I think the story will flow better and be much clearer.

This was a unique story full of twists and turns and not your haunted average haunted house/ghost story. It would also make an incredible movie.

Slow this down..

I really liked the premise of this book and enjoyed after slowing it down quite a bit.
For some reason this sounded exceptionally fast.
It ended a little abruptly but I liked that you got a bit of an epilogue.

I think I want a sequel ...

Although this book started a tiny bit slow I was riveted by the 3rd chapter.
And only listened to this book until it was completed.
I found some of the character names a bit hard to remember who was who but I think that was only because
I am not as familiar with the Spanish language as I should probably be.
"The Familiar" was a interesting twist on a generational witch and ...
I don't want to give to much away. Excellent character growth.
I loved the narrator as well.
If you liked the authors work before I think you would like this.
If you like historical fiction with a paranormal slant, I also recommend this audio book.

This needs to be a lot longer.

So far this is the only one in this series that is working for me.
I do feel calmer listening to it. But it is way too short.
It should be at least an hour.
