This is RAPE!
Revisado: 08-22-21
If I could give it a 0 I would. ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. This needs to be taken down. It’s a story about RAPE. I’m ashamed for you #Audible. This is not ok.

Great storyline
Revisado: 07-24-21
Loved the story, although it took me a while to get into it because of the flipping back and forth between characters, but once I understood who was who, I throughly enjoyed the book. The narrator was eh- not enough differentiation between characters I would say. But overall, an excellent read.

Great story, horrible narration
Revisado: 04-12-21
Compelling storyline, but the narration sucks. She doesn’t know how to pronounce certain words like “barrage” and flips between a NY accent, someone with a slight speech impediment, and an English accent for one of the main characters. Irritating.
Glad it wasn’t my first book with this author.

Loved the storyline
Revisado: 04-09-21
I loved the plot of the text. As a mom I couldn’t help but think what I would have done in this situation. As a Christian I couldn’t help but wrestle with the complexity of the position of the protagonist. As a teacher I thought it brought up an awesome conversation on the ethics of the characters choices, especially the ones involving the potentially life changing scientific breakthroughs. Overall, an excellent read. The narrator last were a bit eh, and from time to time it was hard to distinguish some of the voices. I don’t normally like text that flip back and forth between characters, but this storyline kept the narrative seamless by making sure we knew that each characters’ voice was heard from character that was “telling” the chapter’s reference. I know that sounds strange, but you’ll “get” it when you get the book. 🤣 Just purchase the book. 👍🏻👍🏻

A beautiful story of love
Revisado: 04-03-21
An unexpected story of love and what it means to each of us. A story of how we oftentimes come to find ourselves living the life we expected only to realize that the planned and expected isn’t what our heart truly needs.

Historia
Charlotte Davis is in pieces. At 17 she's already lost more than most people do in a lifetime. But she's learned how to forget. The broken glass washes away the sorrow until there is nothing but calm. You don't have to think about your father and the river. Your best friend, who is gone forever. Or your mother, who has nothing left to give you. Every new scar hardens Charlie's heart just a little more, yet it still hurts so much. It hurts enough to not care anymore, which is sometimes what has to happen before you can find your way back from the edge.

Dark
Revisado: 03-25-21
Very dark. As the mother of a teenage girl, a lot of this was very hard to hear. There are some scenes that were very graphic and disturbing to listen to. Not something I would market to young people.

Historia
Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Khalil was unarmed. Soon afterward, his death is a national headline. Some are calling him a thug, maybe even a drug dealer and a gangbanger. Protesters are taking to the streets in Khalil’s name.

A MUST READ
Revisado: 08-17-19
If you haven’t read The Hate U Give, you must. This is perhaps one of the best books I’ve ever read.
This novel brought me back to my first year as a public school teacher working in the inner city in Fort Worth, TX in 1999. It helped me to better imagine life from my students’ perspective, both today and 20 years ago.
As a member of society, I feel this helps drive the fact that there are always multiple perspectives from which to view life and if we limit ourselves to only our small world perspective, we miss out on so much life.
This is an absolutely beautiful story and a must read.

So much. . . Jus no.
Revisado: 07-29-19
I started it and I just can’t. Too much back and forth for an audio book. I feel like my ADHD is in overload trying to keep up with all of the shallow characters. By the 6th chapter, where I finally gave up, I couldn’t decide if the author’s original intention with the novel was pure commentary about women’s rights in the workplace, with a sprinkling of murder and adulatory or if that was merely an accident. Regardless, I don’t believe the mix of the two is a good idea. Next please.

What was she doing here? Hyattown had changed very little in the years Vanessa Sexton had been away. In some ways her high school sweetheart, Brady Tucker, hadn't changed much either - he was still lean, athletic, rugged... But the once reckless boy had become a solid, dependable man. He'd stood her up on the most important night of her life; could she ever trust him again?

Mehhh
Revisado: 07-29-19
I’m a big Nora fan but this was just lame. No depth of character, I honesty was so bored that I can’t tell you what it really was about. I do know that when the narrator spoke as a male, especially during any passionate or sexy scenes, I felt as if I was listening to middle school aged boys acting out a male out scene. Yuck!

The Narrator ruined it for me. . .
Revisado: 02-13-19
I really wish I had read the reviews before I purchased this! I think the story would have been good, but the narrator completely ruined it for me. I couldn’t get over the fact that this young vibrant female main character sounded like a 50 year old smoker trying to lower their voice to sound sexy all the time. It completely distracted me from the storyline and I had to put it down. Not sure I can survive another 10 hours of it.
