A Gripping, Emotional Journey — Brilliantly Narrated

The Secrets We Hide by Berlin Wick is an absolute gem.

From the very first chapter, I was drawn into a beautifully layered story of love, trauma, resilience, and healing. Wick’s writing is heartfelt and raw, masterfully balancing emotional depth with gripping suspense.

The characters are incredibly well-developed, especially the protagonist, whose inner struggles and strength are portrayed with such authenticity that I felt every moment alongside her. Branden Davis-Butler is one of my “If she narrates it, I’m instantly buying it” narrator. Miss ma’am, you are the only female narrator that has ever made me question my smexuality, if you know what I’m saying. The moaning and the way she encompasses the raw emotion is top tier and so hot I might just switch teams. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

And let’s not forget Sean Masters who expertly portrayed multiple male characters flawlessly and made each one distinguishably different. He is another of my instant buy narrators. Can we talk about his bloopers at the end? Hilarious!

CAN WE HAVE MORE OF THESE TWO TOGETHER?! 🥵🔥

The twists are unexpected but never forced — they feel like natural extensions of the characters’ choices and histories.
The narration is phenomenal. The voice actor brings the story to life with nuance and emotion, perfectly capturing each character’s tone and personality. The audiobook format added another dimension to the story — it felt intimate, almost like I was living through the experience with them.

This isn't just a story — it’s a journey, one that lingers long after the final chapter. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

And the bloopers at the end! 😂 Whoever came up with that idea needs a raise! Why don’t more books have this? Pure gold! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What A Cliffhanger!

This was a fun and short listen that was the perfect way to start out the week.
So. Many. Questions. about what happens next.
The story kept me engaged and on the edge of my seat. It also made me want to make sure my pets were inside.

Cole did a great job with the narration. There's something about his style that really draws you in. He has great range and masterfully portrays the emotions and vulnerability of Jacob.

Looking forward to finding out what happens next!

BRANDEN & E.M. ARE THE HOTTEST PAIRING FOR 2024!

📖 Let's start with the story. The writing itself was just ok, but I probably would've DNFd it if I'd been reading a physical copy. I'm not a big fan of the 3rd person point of view; most of us aren't. Some scenes need more writing because they go so fast that they give you whiplash and can be hard to keep up with. More thought needs to be put into the development and flow of the story. Give us depth. Give us emotion. Give us SOMETHING. GIVE US MORE!

⚠️ If you cringe at terms like "wet channel," "mound," or "tight bud," prepare yourself. I love good smut as much as the next person, but there's some interesting terminology that took me out of the story. Again, I was able to get beyond this because the way the narrators acted it all out with one another was hot! 🔥 Their chemistry together is off the charts. 📈

About the audio:

The incredible performances by Branden Davis-Butler and E.M. Wylde truly set the audiobook apart. Their narration adds a new dimension to the story, giving us everything we weren't getting from the words on the page.

Branden's performance is nothing short of stellar. She masterfully conveys the subtle nuances of Tallullah's emotions, from vulnerability to moments of strength. Her pacing is smooth, and the ability to shift between different tones—whether in moments of tension, tenderness, or humor—feels natural and seamless. You feel connected to the character’s journey, as though you’re experiencing every high and low alongside her.

E.M. handles all the other male characters brilliantly, bringing an entirely different yet equally captivating energy. His voice embodies Lucian and all the other guys, delivering the dialogue with an authenticity that makes you believe these individuals exist. Whether it's conveying sarcasm, sorrow, or moments of introspection, E.M's performance is dynamic and emotionally engaging.

Now, let's get to the good stuff, shall we? Branden and E.M. together are 🔥 H.O.T. ❤️‍🔥 I've enjoyed the works they've done separately. But together, they make worlds collide. 🌎 ☄️ God, I hope the author keeps using the same narrators for the whole series because you will not find a hotter-sounding couple. As an avid audiobook listener, I would know. Like I said, the chemistry between them is palpable.

Branden & E.M. are my new one-click pairings, and I need more of them asap. AUTHORS, YOU NEED THESE TWO DOING YOUR BOOKS! I NEED MORE OF THESE TWO IN MY LIFE ❤️‍🔥

Just a suggestion, but they -the 2 of them- should start a Patreon so we can hear them together more often. I don't even care what they read together, just so long as we can all revel in it. These are the voices I'll be dreaming of every night. 🥵 🫠

The Narrators Win All the Awards!

Don’t get me wrong, I love the story but the narrators really bring these characters to life for me.

Parts of the story started to feel a little redundant (which is fine) but the narrators breathe so much life into it that I didn’t even care.

OMG I was not prepared for how this would make me feel.

The narrators were great! My issue is with the production team that inserted the pick ups. It was obvious every time there was a correction because it sounded so different.

Holy Plot Twist!

This isn't something I normally would have picked on my own, it was recommended to me by a friend and oh my God, I'm so glad I listened!

The story had me sitting on the edge of my seat, and the ending was not what I had expected. I love that J. T. Geissinger wasn't afraid to do something so unconventional. It was perfect! I'm definitely going to be reading/listening to more of her work.

The narrators were phenomenal! You can't go wrong with Tara Langella and Troy Duran. Both are masters at their craft.

Love that this wasn’t what I expected

The storyline has some great twists that I didn’t see coming. I really enjoyed that this is so different from other plots I’ve read recently.

But let me talk about the narrators for a minute. Both did great. But Jess took it to a new level! Doing voices for that many male characters with pitch, cadence, and accent differences is incredibly hard and she nailed it! She deserves a raise, an Audie, and an all expenses paid vacation to the location of her choice.
