Sometimes serials follow the same formula with every novel, just changing up characters and situations. This is not one of those. This story is fresh and different from the first two with a well developed plot and characters.

Historia
The Grand Hotel is a horror novel by esteemed best-selling author Scott Kenemore ( Zombie, Ohio) that takes the reader on a thrilling ride through an interconnected series of stories narrated by the desk clerk and the residents of the hotel itself. And while it is not known whether or not the desk clerk is actually the devil incarnate, it is strange that so many visitors who come for a tour of the hotel have a way of never leaving.

Just couldn’t stick it out
Revisado: 10-22-22
I really wanted to hang on for the ending that the positive reviews mentioned, but couldn’t withstand the torture any longer. Not even the outstanding narration could save me.
I get that this is really a compilation of stories (that I suppose are intended to be horror stories) compiled under the umbrella of a novel) but they were only horror stories in that they were horrible, made even more so than less than mediocre writing.
I only write reviews when I book really bowls me over and this is my first negative review, which says a lot.

Historia
In this gripping, intimate memoir about health, illness, and the invisible reverberating effects of our medical system, Standefer recounts the astonishing true story of the rare diagnosis that upended her rugged life in the mountains of Wyoming and sent her tumbling into a fraught maze of cardiology units, dramatic surgeries, and slow, painful recoveries. As her life increasingly comes to revolve around the internal defibrillator freshly wired into her heart, she becomes consumed with questions about the supply chain that allows such an ostensibly miraculous device to exist.

Just wow!
Revisado: 04-01-21
An amazingly authentic articulation of the visible, invisible and all to often overlooked realities and consequences of our healthcare system’s capabilities and shortcomings.
I have lived my life in the healthcare industry, child and sister of surgeons and employee of the pharmaceutical industry. I found Lightning Flowers to be a highly personal, thoughtful and fair essay. Her recounting of her journey and perspectives are compelling and thought provoking, and a thoroughly enjoyable listening experience.
I rarely write reviews, I was so moved by this book that I felt I had to encourage others to experience it too.

If you like Locke Lamora, you’ll llike this
Revisado: 04-22-18
There are a lot of similarities between the two series, but this is by no means a “rip off”. A great blend of suspense, action and a little steamy sex. The action scenes are pretty graphic. I enjoy it, as I think cringing at some of the scenes adds to the experience of the book. I also like that the main characters are not one dimensional. The protagonists have their character flaws and even a few of the villains have their redeeming qualities.

Compelling
Revisado: 04-22-18
I loved he way the author presented the story, by reaching back in the family history. The imagery was great, as was the character development. I really felt like I was in the room, watching and experiencing the cultural dynamics. It was like each generation was a story unto itself, but expertly woven together.
The performance was just okay, though. The readers voice was just unable to make the female characters sound feminine. Also, the intonation in his voice didn’t always seem to match the text, but other times it seemed spot on. It was not bad enough though to detract from my enjoyment of this book.

Really enjoyable though, a minor criticism
Revisado: 08-11-17
I really liked this series and couldn't put it down. Non-stop action and strong characters who were easy to root for or against. Bronson Pinchot, one of my favorite performers provided the perfect cadence, tone and inflection to pull you right into the story.
The one thing that kept this a 4 star overall was the authors tendency to repeat certain descriptive phrases unnecessarily, as if he had to keep reminding me that Apollo dropping his tail was "his tell."
I also felt that while he did a very good job of conveying the emotional and psychological wounds inflicted by battle (usually missing in other action/fantasy novels), he overdid it just a little too much that it verged on wearisome.
That said, the positives: great characters, action, imagery and performance well outweighed the shortcomings and I highly recommend this book to those who like this genre. If you like Larry Correia, you'll probably like this.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Already have and he loved it too.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Spellbound?
Anything I could write about would be a spoiler. Let's just say memorable moments include both action scenes as well as the ever witty dialog.
What does Bronson Pinchot bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I couldn't imagine I would have done justice to the perfect interpretation of the characters' personalities that Bronson has brought. He truly made these characters real people with believable powers.

Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

I loved everything about this book!
Revisado: 10-28-15
Would you consider the audio edition of The Nightingale to be better than the print version?
I did not read the print version, but the narration was exellent. Not only accents and male/female voicing, but Polly's cadence was matched to the age of the characters. At first, I thought she spoke too slowly, (voice of the narrator) but when she voiced other characters, I realized that she was matching the fact that the narrator was an old woman, very deliberate in her speach.
What other book might you compare The Nightingale to and why?
Winds of War and War and Rememberance, most obviously because of the WWII setting, but moreso because of the individual characters stories, range of themes, vividness of the imagery and her the complexity of the character's personalities.
Which character – as performed by Polly Stone – was your favorite?
While I certainly loved many of the characters, the way Polly portrayed Captain Beck kept me wondering whether or not he could be trusted, which is exactly how Vienne and Sophie must have felt.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The events when Rachael and Sarah were at the border crossing to the free zone.
Any additional comments?
Even though the protagonists in this book are heroines, I think it is a book men would enjoy as well.

Good story poor choice of narrator
Revisado: 10-05-14
How could the performance have been better?
The narrator was a terrible choice for the book. His voice made me imagine a 60 year old protagonist while the actual character was 34. It made sterile the emotion in the relationships between all of the characters.
