Amazing!

As a writer and lifelong student of literature, I had hoped to gain some new insight by listening to this selection.
What I gained was so much more. it will require me to listen multiple times to gain all that I can from this book. In addition to discovering new ways to absorb literature, I was thoroughly entertained.
The writing is beautiful and engaging. I haven't thought this much, and at this depth, about literature since my honors program courses in college...and I don't mean just any of those particular courses -- I mean the best ones I ever took!
I highly recommend this for anyone who enjoys the magic of literature.

Rehashing of old ideas

I usually don't write negative reviews, since authors need encouragement and I can usually find something worthwhile in any book. This one is well narrated, she even managed to say the nonsense word "minimalizing" which is used with alarming frequency -- instead of the actual word: minimizing. I couldn't finish this, even though it was short.

After you sketch out the plot and the general sequence of events, but before you start writing your story, you need to select the proper point of view. Doing so early will reduce your time in the editing phase. This book gives good, solid advice and examples of "deep POV" in first and, particularly, in third person.

Had to Stop Driving to Make Notes!

This great, inspiring book kept me entertained on several lengthy road trips. I write for a living, but the writing I do isn't the only type of writing I want to do. Stein's book re-ignited my latent desire to work on my novel. The content is excellent, entertaining and informative.
I only recommend that you pull over to jot down the notes that you WILL want to make while listening. Listening and jotting while driving is dangerous ;o)
