Good read, but repetitive.
Revisado: 01-14-25
Overall an easy read. Repetitive as the concept seems pretty straight forward. I’m not sure the name, “little p purpose” is the best name for the big idea of this book as it does seem to make it feel less than the goal oriented purpose that is the, “Big P Purpose.” It just sounds off. Overall I feel I have more clarity towards the type of purpose I am cultivating in my life so I’m thankful for this book.

Absolutely essential reading
Revisado: 09-02-22
My wife and I both read this and continually refer to it, and refer our friend to it as well. The author takes an incredibly thoughtful, but no fluff approach to the content. A must read for any parent of a pre/teen girl/s.

My wife and I read this together and it's well laid out and engaging. The author has some interesting theories about our fantasies, their origins, meanings and importance they have in living a fulfilled sexual life. Powerful for sure. We also had a physical copy as the audio book was not super clear on where the exercises were and having the physical book helped clear that up.

Historia
Lois Clary is a software engineer at General Dexterity, a San Francisco robotics company with world-changing ambitions. She codes all day and collapses at night, her human contact limited to the two brothers who run the neighborhood hole-in-the-wall from which she orders dinner every evening. Then, disaster! Visa issues. The brothers quickly close up shop. But they have one last delivery for Lois: their culture, the sourdough starter used to bake their bread. She must keep it alive, they tell her—feed it daily, play it music, and learn to bake with it.

This is no Mr. Penumbra's 24 hour bookstore. It held my attention but it's forgettable in that it is lacking a strong hook or sense of magic that Penumbra had.

Historia
Nobody needs telling there isn’t enough time. We’re obsessed with our lengthening to-do lists, our overfilled inboxes, work-life balance, and the ceaseless battle against distraction; and we’re deluged with advice on becoming more productive and efficient, and “life hacks” to optimize our days. But such techniques often end up making things worse. The sense of anxious hurry grows more intense, and still the most meaningful parts of life seem to lie just beyond the horizon.

Strong concept, poor execution
Revisado: 08-17-21
This book would have made for a great blog post, but, for a whole book, it lacks.
The concept is we have roughly 4,000 weeks to live, that we have unreal expectations of legacy endeavors and a life unfulfilled. That no one cares what we do and the universe could care less so just live your life.
The author is engaging, but the stories are redundant and there's nothing really ground breaking here, although it has that potential. I was hoping for more.

Good, but not great
Revisado: 07-04-21
Filed with great research and scientific information about how our brains work and how we sabotage ourselves. Only a few sit-down and write down your thought sections in the book. Happy I read it, but not the kick in the ass I was hoping for with such a bold title.

Revisado: 01-24-21
Overall a good book for the FI community. The recording quality is awful, (you can hear police sirens and the edit points all throughout so it feels choppy) but the points are well made. Although it's an okay listen I don't feel there's much here aside from the kid 401k.

A very dense look at early retirement. You can tell she is walking the talk. Loads of info. Daunting really.
If you are serious about early retirement then this is a book you can't listen to while you're working out or driving. You need to sit down with it and take copius notes as, like I mentioned, this is a beast of dense material.
Great work. I will continue to refer to this book many times now and in my planning.

Financial Freedom is a step-by-step path to make more money in less time, so you have more time for the things you love. It challenges the accepted narrative of spending decades working a traditional nine-to-five job, pinching pennies, and finally earning the right to retirement at age 65, and instead offers listeners an alternative: Forget everything you've ever learned about money so you can actually live the life you want.

Nothing new here. If you've read JL Collins, "A simple path to wealth", "Playing with FIRE" or the Mad Fientist's blog then you've already heard all of this.
I've been to the site as well and, maybe it's just me, but there are many things noted in the book that are not on the website.
This book feels like a side hustle to get speaking engagements.
