Historia
When Misty was six years old, her family started to live and dress like the Amish. Misty and her sister were kept as slaves on a mountain ranch where they were subjected to almost complete isolation, sexual abuse, and extreme physical violence. When Misty reached her teens, her parents feared she and her sister would escape and took them to an Amish community where they were adopted and became baptized members. Misty was devastated to once again find herself in a world of fear, animal cruelty, and sexual abuse.

Very Enlightening and Timeless
Revisado: 03-05-25
While I knew some things about the Amish lifestyle this book was very eye opening and informative about the everyday life of an Amish woman. I knew that Misty's story was not a one off, I never imagined the extent of the horrors one would have to endure. Misty is a hope to raise awareness for all forms of abuse and cruelty and I believe the book timeless in the sense that she could be anyone at anytime who lives or feels they live in isolation. My only dislike about the book is that she did not keep or go back for Simba. :(

Hard to finish
Revisado: 12-01-22
the books are really well written my biggest issue is that they have become formulaic and predictable. still going to finish the series but it'd hard to get through sometimes

Couldn't finish this one
Revisado: 09-02-22
While the performance of the speaker was good and high quality the content was hard to get through. It had good points. However, the constant puns regarding how this or that will make your waist line increase, was too much for me.

Informative and helpful
Revisado: 07-12-22
striving to eat healthy is difficult in a world of the internet and media. The author is well versed and quotes specific studies that aim to educate the listener rather than preaching how one should eat. he is very careful to present the information and not tell you how to use it.

I accidentally started with the 3rd book then went back and listened to the first and second. I definitely recommend that order. something don't make sense at first but I like finding out the connections later through books 1 and 2.

Historia
Stephen Smith is the boy who did not exist. Born out of wedlock in the early 1960s, Steve's parents - both devout Catholics - had felt so 'shamed' by their son's illegitimate birth that they hid him away from the world by locking him in the cellar...for 13 years. Apart from a few admissions to hospital as a result of his 'imprisonment', Steve remained in the coal cellar of the family home where he was deprived of daylight, his childhood, school and human contact until he'd reached his teenage years.
