Good story line bur I think the recording mixed 2

I think the recording might have been a mixture of 2 different books. I had the hardest time with this book because there was no spacing between the changing of events. But now that I've finished it and thought about it, I think the recoding mixed 2 different books. The main title takes place in Europe in the 1800's. But the mixed in title is in the US in the 1900's during an earthquake. I could find nothing that tied the two events together, leading me to believe there was an error in recording. The book switched back and forth several times leaving me having to go back and listen to sections several times to try and figure out what was actually going on.
Overall, the storyline was good, but the recording needs to be fixed.
