Every high school curvy girl cliche in one book

The book was so predictable and cliche that it was unenjoyable. The narrator was not great either so that didn' help. Not sure how this book got so many high reviews.

Who are the professionals here?

I have to admit that the female lead is so obstinate and pushy, I would have dumped her at a safe house if I were the cops, and left her there. However, the cops in this story seem to be constantly looking to her to figure out what to do in their case next if the "that's a good idea", and "not a bad idea" comments are anything to go by since they don't seem to have a clue how to run an investigation.

Overbearing alpha males and simpering female

This story had potential. I couldn't get past how naive and dumb the female character was. That and the fact that male 1 told her how much he loves her after two days, and then convinced her that she should sleep with both men because it's "only fair". Then when male 2 flirts with another woman in front of her, she tells him that she won't hold it against him if he wanted to be with someone else. He gets butt hurt that she "would even think that", then storms off and pouts. Yet it is her responsibility to apologize for hurting his feeling by calling out his s****y actions. Both men act like she is too stupid to live on her own (even though she had done so for 9 months already), and any opinion she has is shut down or they use sex as a distraction. I finished it just to see how it ended but was tempted to stop so many times.

Heroine is "better than other women".

I know the headline sounds bad but hear me out. I am currently on chapter 7, and something the heroine said made me stop, and I had to write this review. Gillian says to walker, "I'm not a drama queen, I'm different from most women. I don't do drama. Women in general are really bad about that. They get jealous and bitchy and have to be all dramatic about it. They don't get their way, they cause a scene. They think they should be getting more attention, they dress flamboyantly and outrageous. That's not me. I say it like it is but don't do it or any kind of reaction." Well ok then. Considering how Gillian acted in the previous chapter, I find this very hard to believe. (you will need to listen to know what I mean) Why would a female author continue to perpetuate the idea that women are nothing but selfish drama queens? The 'I'm not like other women" is reinforcing sexist, dated gender stereotypes. ALL women have moments of drama, jealousy, and bitchiness. If you say you don't, you are lying to yourself.

Male narrator was hard to listen to.

It would be nice to have a male narrator who can give the correct inflections when expressing emotions, and who can properly pronounce words (funeral, etc.). His performance fell flat for me. Overall the book was good, a bit to much pining away for me but still enjoyable.

This story barely kept my interest. I enjoyed the first book so I bought this one. I paid to much. It is not a bad story, it's just lacking excitement.

Great Book - Highly Recommend!!

This book is a great start to the series and the others are just as great. The only downside to this entire series is the narrator. I do not feel that he captures emptions correctly, and can't do female voices to save his life. He makes the female voice in every intimate moment sound like a dying animal which really takes away from the story. If you can ignore that, you will really enjoy this book.

This book was amazing. There were so many different emotions I went through while listening to this book. It was heartbreaking, yet intriguing, romantic, and fun. I cannot accurately put into words how much I enjoyed this book.
