Historia
In his most provocative and practical book yet, one of the foremost thinkers of our time redefines what it means to understand the world, succeed in a profession, contribute to a fair and just society, detect nonsense, and influence others. Citing examples ranging from Hammurabi to Seneca, Antaeus the Giant to Donald Trump, Nassim Nicholas Taleb shows how the willingness to accept one's own risks is an essential attribute of heroes, saints, and flourishing people in all walks of life.

There is a lot of gold to be found in this one. I recommend it. However, there are things in it that I disagree with.

I don't believe this book is purely factual and it's very biased. Once more, the narrator talks out of his nose. Sorry if that's rude. It just sounds halfway like how Steve Carell sounds in the show the office when he humorously mocks others in his characteristic geeky voice.Theres also a bit of self indulging vanity that I find rather insincere and distasteful.
Nevertheless, the book makes a lot of solid points and I think it's worth the time listening to. Its enlightening. It certainly helps to explain and defend some of the uglier sides of capitalism in a way that makes sense and shows the reality of it. The premise: you have to be willing to be vulnerable and lose if you want to win. It's also downright corruption to push risk onto others; others take the fall for your mistakes and it creates an environment of weaklings because nobody learns or grows! Above all, this book has a lot of humor in it that's makes it more entertaining.

Historia
For decades, alarms have sounded about declining engagement. Yet companies continue to struggle with toxic cultures, and the low productivity and unhappiness that go with them. Why is "culture" so difficult to improve? What makes so many good employees check out? Neuroscientist Paul Zak shows that innate brain functions hold the answers. It all boils down to trust. When someone shows you trust, a feel-good jolt of oxytocin surges through your brain and triggers you to reciprocate.

I liked pretty much everything about but what I don't like is the macho-man sort of take on the book. The book doesn't have that angle and it's a bit odd to try to slam those two together. One thing the book makes clear: testosterone isnt all good regarding leadership. Leadership is selfless and team focussed. Of course, there is so much more to this book than that. The book is primarily about company culture and maximizing a healthy, productive environment. There needs to be control (in a healthy and positive way, the intentions are good) of company culture or the culture will control the company. People will be unproductive and lazy, unhappy etc.

Historia
The Leadership Contract provides the manual that leaders around the world need. With only seven percent of employees feeling confident in senior leadership, the problem is evident: disappointing, and often disgraceful leaders. Employees deserve better than that; organizations need better than that - and this book provides a robust framework for stepping up and making the decision to lead. If you're not exceptional, step up or step aside - this book helps you toughen up and put your commitment to great leadership in writing for yourself as much as everyone else.

amazing book. wonderful advice. the narrator, however, sounds like daffy duck and he also has a softer tone, making it difficult to hear what he is saying at times

There are little nuggets there and here of wisdom. And it makes some very compelling points. Artificial intelligence is learning from our top performers and hopefully we can translate that to all people and replicate it quickly in our fast changing, developing world. Superb

This book is by far my most favorite book of all time
Revisado: 01-16-24
It's perfectly captures what is needed in our world. Specific to me and my experience, it's not every day that you read a book that so closely resembles my own world view. It pretty much resonated with me completely. It was almost eery and creepy because it was too right. So right. I wish I could talk with the author. He and I would have alot in common. Sadly, he is dead. Please read this book! It's the future

It's people who make organizations great, so how can leaders best help their people achieve that greatness? As Ken Jennings and John Stahl-Wert show in this new edition of their best seller, you can't just demand greatness - you have to inspire it. The most effective leaders don't just stand in front of their people, they stand behind them too. As one of the characters in the book notes, "You qualify to be first by putting other people first."

Not going to lie, this book wasn't the most enjoyable to listen to. Its not a very life like description of someone's experience. And it's isn't exactly riveting, either. It's more of a parable inorder that you grasp the necessary concepts. The substance that you can draw from this book is well worth the read.
