Historia
From a dysfunctional family who turn their mother's wake into a full-blown riot, to funeral crashers looking for free meals, to a horse-drawn hearse taking the dearly departed for the ride of their afterlife, these accounts from actual undertakers will have you laughing, thinking, and gasping in disbelief. A literal graveyard of wild coincidences, slapstick humor, and touching moments, Over Our Dead Bodies explores the lighter side of the dead, the living, and the lone undertaker who has to make it all go as planned - even if it doesn't.

Even if you don’t feel like the death care industry is something you find interesting this is such a worthwhile read. Gives you faith in humanity & reminds us to appreciate life, not take our lives (or deaths too seriously) and that we are all connected by this universal experience

Historia
Twenty-five-year-old rookie Repo Agent, Andrea Sloan, doesn't like accepting help from anyone - especially not arrogant musicians who are too charming for their own good. Even though she swore off men years ago, Andi finds herself drawn to handsome rockstar, Cooper Barnett, as he continually pops up in her life when she least expects it. Their budding relationship becomes even more complicated when Cooper talks Andi into letting him ride-along on one of her repos, and they come across a very naked, very dead body.

Great read!
Revisado: 01-22-25
I really liked this book! The characters are hilarious and totally relatable. The pacing is spot on, so you’ll stay hooked the whole time. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys the Stephanie Plum novels and stuff like that. It’s a fun thriller and super easy to read.

Historia
In Japan, cats are a symbol of good luck. As the myth goes, if you are kind to them, they'll one day return the favor. And if you are kind to the right cat, you might just find yourself invited to a mysterious coffee shop under a glittering Kyoto moon. This particular coffee shop is like no other. It has no fixed location, no fixed hours, and seemingly appears at random to adrift young people at crucial junctions in their lives. It's also run by talking cats.

Wanted to love it
Revisado: 01-22-25
I wanted to love this book, I really did. I just couldn’t get into it. A lot of the ideas in this book would normally keep my interest but they way it reads (even with my audiobooks set to 1.25 speed) just isn’t very engaging. Maybe if I read it physically myself. The audiobooks just didn’t work for me for this one.

Historia
After Lucy is found wandering the streets, covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood, everyone thinks she is a murderer. Lucy and Savvy were the golden girls of their small Texas town: pretty, smart, and enviable. Lucy married a dream guy with a big ring and an even bigger new home. Savvy was the social butterfly loved by all, and if you believe the rumors, especially popular with the men in town. It’s been years since that horrible night, a night Lucy can’t remember anything about, and she has since moved to LA and started a new life.

Relatable characters & a story line that keeps you invested
Revisado: 07-09-24
I loved this book. The characters personalities are so clearly written that you can truly picture them. I think this would make a great book to movie!
The main character is equally well written. I loved her but I also wanted to knock some sense into her sometimes. Which honestly tracks.

Be ready to laugh out loud, tear up a bit & enjoy the ride these stories take you on!
Revisado: 06-24-24
I listened to this as an audiobook. Normally it doesn’t take me long to finish an audiobook at all. Especially because I tend to listen at 1.5 speed or so. This one took me longer than normal but for good reason.
I kept having to pause after stories in the book because throughout my listen I laughed, I cried, I laughed so hard I cried & I also had to rewind a bit at times to make sure I heard that right.
This was such a great listen. The stories remind you that death is just a part of life & it’s really the experience of the living. It adds levity to it. It gives you a point of few we don’t always get to see. I can’t honestly say enough about this one. Absolutely worth the read or listen!

Honest & easy to understand
Revisado: 06-21-24
I know this author won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but I appreciate her unfiltered direct approach. It’s honest & relatable. I love that she’s included her personality in how she writes. It makes it more relatable & easier to retain and follow than others on similar topics that come across as a textbook.

Historia
Our brains do their best to help us out, but every so often they can be real assholes - having meltdowns, getting addicted to things, or shutting down completely at the worst possible moments. Your brain knows it's not good to do these things, but it can't help it sometimes - especially if it's obsessing about trauma it can't overcome. That's where this life-changing book comes in. With humor, patience, science, and lots of good-ole swearing, Dr. Faith explains what's going on in your skull, and talks you through the process of retraining your brain to respond appropriately....

Relatable, direct, refreshingly honest & direct. It won’t be for everyone but I love the unfiltered and authentic way the information is shared. Feels like talking to a friend. Is understandable without feeling dumbed down.

Finally a thriller that keeps you guessing
Revisado: 05-28-24
I’ve always loved thrillers. Lately though, I have been disappointed with stories where loose ends felt huge & more glaring than the resolution. Where the final answers are just too obvious. This book is a breath of fresh air in that sense. Truly keeping you guessing until the end, managing some huge curveballs that makes sense but you don’t see coming. While also feeling complete when you finally arrive at the end. I will absolutely be reading more from this author in the future.

Historia
Rare-book dealer Ashlyn Greer’s affinity for books extends beyond the intoxicating scent of old paper, ink, and leather. She can feel the echoes of the books’ previous owners—an emotional fingerprint only she can read. When Ashlyn discovers a pair of beautifully bound volumes that appear to have never been published, her gift quickly becomes an obsession. Not only is each inscribed with a startling incrimination, but the authors, Hemi and Belle, tell conflicting sides of a tragic romance.

A beautiful tapestry of stories
Revisado: 04-12-24
This one may not be for everyone. There are several stories woven together and while that’s part of why I loved it so much I could see some people not being able to completely follow it. One of the rare moments I felt the story was truly given closure at the end which was surprisingly satisfying and the rare happy ending that seems almost impossible. However it fits and it’s possible only because of the raw honesty of the characters and their emotions. Absolutely loved it!
