Such a lack-luster book, that even with only 30 minutes left.... i stopped listening. Shocker? Not if you get that far in the book. Nothing of note really happens, the characters are very 1 dimensional, and the entire story line makes really no sense whatsoever. The first book with Evelyn and David (while still not plausible) was at least fun enough to go along with that it was enjoyable. This one was like one big whiney fest. Skip PLEASE.

If you like your heroine to be 2 dimensional, and basically a cyborg... then go right ahead and read. Does this woman have any deeper feelings? We know she has some serious abandonment issues...but that part of the story isn't even that well developed. Oh her brother and sister won't come for Xmas, woe is her... is about as deep as the sob story goes. I usually like a book that gives me a good reason to want to root for a couple.. this one made me think the guy was nuts for wanting to go out with her. Plus her conversation skills were JUVENILE!! I could have written her dialogue. She's not funny or witty. Basically, steer clear and hope that the next book gives the female lead a better part...

Other than that, the male lead was great, and the narration was great too. It was honestly THAT hard to stomach HER!!!!!

Looking back, I can usually tell how much I truly enjoyed a book by the length at which it takes me to finish. If i stay up late just to listen a bit more- or can't wait to do laundry or vaccum or any other house hold task just to sneak a listen! This was not one of those books however. I found myself laboring to finish it just so I could move on. While I wanted to know the end..and i wanted to see how things would turn out, I just didn't care at the same time. The characters are only slightly interesting- at best. Plus the narration was only so-so. I won't be re-reading it, nor am I that intrigued to try out any other of Elizabeth Hoyt's books. Sad- because they seem to have such a following too. Just couldn't see what all the hype was about.

I really have enjoyed the last books of the Marriage Series. But this one, just didn't see to have the same charisma, or chemistry as the others. I found my mind wandering during different scenes. Plain to say, this book just did not hold my interest the way the Marriage Bargain or the Marriage Mistake did! While it was fun to see where all the other characters ended up- I won't be reading this one again. Excellent narration though!

Captivating, twists and turns, beautiful story development. The last 1/4 moved a little slow- but overall, amazing. A definite re-read! narration is AMAZING. Sometimes I feel that if I were to read the book, I would enjoy it better- but the narration probably MAKES this book. Wouldn't dream of reading it on my own. So credit worthy! Off to use another credit on Ms. Kinsale

Coming right at you- Davy Dempsey's Story. And of course, Davy's story couldn't be very straight forward, could it. Thats what makes him the most cunning of the Dempsey's. So when you throw: Betty, Veronica, Scarlet and ....wait... yes Matilda, or shall we call her Tilda... you get one hell of mix- plus alot of names to keep track of. And she's not the only one wandering around with multiple "identities". Hello Louise. Plus add Pops into the story mix and its just one big 'ole Dempsey party with a Clea on top. literally. Has plenty of humor to keep the story moving (plus the narrator doesn't pause of a breath - which definitely keeps the pace going). Although it could have more in the romance department, its enough to be satisfying. All in all a great story. I will probably wait awhile to re-read, but if you know me- even CONSIDERING re-reading is a compliment (blame it on a short attention span). While the beginning of the book was a bit of a snooze, wait until half way and just hold on for the ride in the closet of your life!

Julie Garwood write some awesome books. You really can't go wrong. And this goes for The Secret too. It was hard to put down and I moved through it quickly! Susan Duerden, I mean the woman has a narration talent that you cannot deny.

Although, now i'm on the otherside of this book- Its hard to remember what it was all really about. English-Scottish tensions, a brooding laird, feminist movement vibes, midwifery, a secret parentage. Was it good: yes. Will I read it again: probably not. Take what you will, and lose yourself for a several hours- but its not KMM. Oh how I hope she adds more to her highlander novels *sigh.

And again and again and again! I couldn't put this DOWN! Loved all aspects of this book, and can't wait to read Davy's book (already have it... just waiting now!). This book was all over the place, but somehow... Cruise can pull it off and make it just glow!

Single mayor, young motherless child, struggling porn producers, murder, nosey small town, and a hoopla of hilarious family.... oh ya, and romance! who knew it was such an awesome combo!

Wanted: to be relieved from dying child book when looking for a simple fun romance. I am not sure how the idea of mixing in one dead child and a dying one became a great foundation for a romance book. It just seems to me... kinda, i don't know, depressing, sad, and all around- not fun. This is why I usually stray away from Non-Fiction. If i really wanted my pleasure reading to be real life... then sure, but this is supposed to be for FUN! This book, not fun. I mean, I see the fantasy in it.

Single mother, on the brink of poverty, sick child, cue the billionaire.

But this book focuses too much on the process of "finding a cure" (which, cough, is totally and completely bogus... plus i work in scientific research, and i just had to continuously roll my eyes... which brings me back to why i don't read "real life" books). So, had she just ditched the "cure" story plot line, i'm sure i would have enjoyed it more. Since she didn't... i don't like this book. not credit worthy. Drags on. NOT a normal susan mallery book. Usually her reads are laugh out loud funny, with romance whipped in!

This one just left me wanting to get put out of my misery.

Wow, how have I moved so far into this genre and never picked up a Jennifer Cruise book. Shame on me. But, oh how i've remedied this conundrum! Bet me was hilarious! Although the betting did kinda get out of hand there... it was awesome. Min wasn't my favorite character ever, but I loved Cal. So while it was kinda funny to have them together... the book in its entirety made up for it, and then some. Especially if you throw in the meddling Ex's! All in all, very credit worthy!
