I loved that the storyline had substance. All of of the characters were so well developed. I'm ready for Ms. Hostin's next novel.

I wasn't familiar with Ms. Johnson prior to this . But, boy oh boy what an intimate view of a Rollercoaster life. I enjoyed it!

Great Read ...As expected!

Daniel Black never disappoints. All of his work is so life like, that I find myself living with the characters. In this book, quoting of the hymns, all of which I knew, made this even more relatable!

I had no idea who Mike Elliott was when I chose this book. It is indeed an excellent telling of his journey, as told by the author. The interview with and discussion about his mother was phenomenal. I'm a new fan!

It Was OK

I think she provided some interesting self discovery, as intended. However, I still finished the book feeling blah about the author. Nothing endeared me to her. it felt more like an actress reading a script, rather than a woman speaking about herself. That's what I wanted to hear.

Pleasantly Surprised

I'm certainly no Omarosa fan. However I found the book to be a worthwhile listen. For me, it provided a humanistic side of Omarosa. it also validated my thoughts about Trump. Has it changed my perspective of her? Nope.

Not Great, But Certainly Not Bad

The author did well in her attempt to mix fact with fiction. Unfortunately, the two opposing thoughts, sometimes clashed and made the story unrealistic. For example, no traditiional Black church interviews a potential pastor candidate's wife, in his stead and negotiates a salary with her. Even in this, I still found the story entertaining. Sadly, it seemed that the author ran out of steam towards the ending.

For me, much of the saving "grace" was the narrator. She held the storyline together for me.

This book wasn't great, but certainly not bad. I still love Black fiction and I'd certainly read the sequel....because that looks like where this storyline is headed.

Better Than Expected

I held off from reading this book, because I just thought that it would be a self serving tale of 20 year old Fresh Prince. Instead, I found an interesting recollection of a life well lived.

It's undeniable that Will Smith has lived an extraordinary life. It's interesting that he has remained "relatively" anchored through it alll. Hearing him tell his story in his own words was aentertaining and educational. Will is certainly an intellect. as well.

This book was a surprising pleasure and delight. I highly recommend it!
