Historia
We know the universe had a beginning. With the Big Bang, it expanded from a state of unimaginable density to an all-encompassing cosmic fireball to a simmering fluid of matter and energy, laying down the seeds for everything from black holes to one rocky planet orbiting a star near the edge of a spiral galaxy that happened to develop life as we know it. But what happens to the universe at the end of the story? And what does it mean for us now?

So good I've read it twice so far
Revisado: 09-16-20
As soon as I finished THE END OF EVERYTHING, I immediately listened to it again. It's that entertaining and enlightening. I wouldn't have thought a book about how everything is going to come to an end would be laugh-out-loud funny, but I did indeed laugh out loud even as my mind was blown by the crazy ideas and solid science. Gabra Zackman's reading perfectly fits the style of Katie Mack's writing. I need to listen again to count the HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY references. They were so very apt.

Historia
Joe Biden is fresh out of the Obama White House and feeling adrift when his favorite railroad conductor dies in a suspicious accident. To unravel the mystery, "Amtrak Joe" re-teams with the only man he's ever fully trusted - Obama. Together they'll plumb the darkest corners of Delaware, traveling from cheap motels to biker bars and beyond, as they uncover the sinister forces advancing America's opioid epidemic. Hope Never Dies is essentially the first published work of Obama/Biden fan fiction - and a cathartic listen for anyone distressed by the current state of affairs.

Great fun
Revisado: 08-12-18
This novel is a fond pastiche of hardbitten detective stories and the public personalities of Joe Biden and Barack Obama. Parts of it made me laugh out loud. I'll enjoy re-reading it as much as I enjoyed reading it for the first time.

Any additional comments?
This was the first SF book I read, when I was 11. I wanted to BE Podkayne. As a young adult, I was embarrassed to like the book. But over the years, especially when I look back unflinchingly at my teenaged years, I can admit that 15-year-old (in Earth years) girls really are like that. Podkayne is intelligent but naive, courageous but reckless, ambitious but unsure of what she really wants. I love her, and I love the "classic SF" in this book: human settlements on Mars and Venus, space travel, the human constants of personalities and politics.
