Fantastic story and a new take on the apocalypse
Revisado: 10-13-16
What did you love best about Seabound?
It is difficult to choose just one thing. The story was great with very real and relatable characters. I was very engrossed in it and found myself constantly trying to guess what was going to happen next and putting myself in Esther's shoes.
If I were to choose a single thing I liked best it would be the originality of the story. I am a great lover of post apocalyptic fiction. Recently there is a tremendous glut of zombie stories, which while not necessarily a bad thing, it seems to become derivative after a time. The idea of civilization surviving the apocalypse on board ships...cruise ships no less...was brilliant and I found the author was really good with details that came to mind: ("How do they get enough food? How do they make repairs?" etc.)
Also the end of the world came not from EMP or nuclear warheads, but rather from a natural event.
I really loved this book!
What other book might you compare Seabound to and why?
It is hard to find a direct comparison of the work, and of course many post apocalyptic books have similarities. If I were to draw some comparisons I might take Lucifer's Hammer for the natural disaster aspect and The Road for the gritty feel.
Which scene was your favorite?
I do not want to spoil it by the whole scene involving the Lucinda. It was awesome.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Absolutely. I was sorry that I couldn't!
Any additional comments?
Please get the other books in the series on Audible immediately so I can listen to them!! I want to know more.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would definitely recommend this to a friend who enjoys this type of material.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I honestly do not feel the reader really got to know the characters in the short span of the work.
What about Phillip J. Mather’s performance did you like?
At first I had trouble with his narration. It seemed too over the top. I got used to it and actually found it good towards the middle. It is a very theatrical performance.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The twist at the end was amazing.

A frighteningly possible look at the end of civili
Revisado: 10-03-16
If you could sum up The Borrowed World in three words, what would they be?
Riveting, interesting, fast-paced
What other book might you compare The Borrowed World to and why?
Prepper's Crucible, Home, Northern Lights etc.
His style reminds me a bit of Boyd Craven III and the subject matter is very similar.
What about Kevin Pierce’s performance did you like?
Kevin is always awesome. I find in this book, like others he narrates, he breathes life into the characters and gives each their own voice. I find myself really getting engrossed.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes absolutely. If I had a day off I would have!

A fantasy novel as told by the other side.
Revisado: 10-03-16
What did you love best about Black Metal?
I loved the fact that this book primarily focused on the orcs and to a lesser extent their goblin and troll allies. Usually in fantasy novels, it is told by the traditional "good guys," the elves, humans or dwarves. This put you in the headspace of the darker races of fantasy lore.
I also really liked how they turned things on their head where orcs were an "ancient race" as were trolls and goblins. This is again different from the standard trope of "ancient elves."
What other book might you compare Black Metal to and why?
I honestly cannot think of one.
Which scene was your favorite?
I really enjoyed the final battle. I only wish it had turned out differently!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I think actually there were many moments. There was nothing singular. Again, being put in the headspace of the traditional bad guy "monsters" of the story let the author and therefore the reader explore a very different side of the old familiar coin. This was fresh and deeply interesting.

A new twist on an EMP event
Revisado: 10-03-16
Would you consider the audio edition of 36 Hours to be better than the print version?
I did not read the print version, but the audio version really drew me in.
What did you like best about this story?
I really like that it was a twist. There was no terrorist event, no WW3...it was a natural thing that could really happen. It has happened before.
Have you listened to any of Kevin Pierce’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes I have listed to quite a few and I have to say he is by far one of the best narrators out there and his voice, tone, inflection and emphasis is perfect. I find myself really wrapped up in the story when I listen to his narration. This book was on par with the others I have listened to by him.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes I found the story very engrossing.

Interesting take on the modern vampire
Revisado: 08-01-16
What made the experience of listening to Vampire Caving the most enjoyable?
I felt that it was a new take on an old theme. Sure we have seen vampires exploring their origins before in other works such as those by Anne Rice, but never like this. It was just a very different take.
What did you like best about this story?
I really enjoyed the portrayal of the two different vampire "sects" if you will. The risk takers and the power behind the race. It presented a really interesting dichotomy.
Which scene was your favorite?
I enjoyed when John was trying to teach his recluse patron about email and how you didn't need to pay for each one. An amusing take to be sure.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Not sure...

Steve Minion attends Beast Barracks, where he learns both the arcane and mundane arts of being a servant of the Devil. Strength, speed, and endurance are all part of a demon's physical makeup, but he must be taught to be sneaky, cruel, and ruthless and of course to ignore personal hygiene. As Steve begins work as a full-fledged bad guy, he must confront the inevitable: demons exist to torment the damned, and Hell's former handyman-in-chief doesn't seem to have the stomach for the work.

So sad this is the last in the series
Revisado: 08-01-16
What did you love best about The Reluctant Demon?
It is bittersweet when I say this, but the way the book brings the journey full circle to completion. On the one hand it was very satisfying and cool to look back at the four books as one complete work. On the other hand, I am sorry there is no more in store for Steve Minion!
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Reluctant Demon?
Tricking Leviathan and getting away with it was priceless.
Which scene was your favorite?
I really liked the party that Lilith threw for Steve upon his graduation from Demon Boot Camp.
Who was the most memorable character of The Reluctant Demon and why?
While I still have to say I really love Lilith since she is always amazing. I rather enjoyed the portrayal of Beelzebub and thought he stole the show. He is far more complex and layered than one might initially think and despite being a devil it was like he had a genuine empathy for Steve.

Entertaining Western
Revisado: 08-01-16
What did you love best about The Devil's Brand?
I really enjoyed the nostalgic feelings from the book. It evoked memories of old school western novels and movies. It had a good amount of action and standard western tropes but mixed it up with new ideas.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Devil's Brand?
Hard to say without spoiling but let's just say when the Katy's get what's coming to them. No one likes a bully.
What does J. Scott Bennett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I think the narrator added a good pacing to the story and his use of changing voices for different characters kept it all flowing well.
If you could take any character from The Devil's Brand out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Oliver Kingston Dukes. He seems like he would be amazing and entertaining company.

A new take on a post EMP world
Revisado: 06-07-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely. I have come to really love Boyd Craven's work. His stories are in depth and multi-faceted. Often they are also flawed or reluctant heroes which is something I enjoy. The challenges they face are realistic more often than not.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Devil Dog?
I really enjoyed the whole situation where he essentially shamed the town. He taught them to open their eyes and start cooperating and how to act like civilized people again.
Which character – as performed by Kevin Pierce – was your favorite?
Absolutely Dick. He was an amazing character. As always Kevin Pierce breathes life into him and the performance was so easy to get lost in. His narration is superb.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes! It was great. I found myself sitting in the driveway for extra time at the end of my drive to get a little more in.

Scattered, disjointed and poorly narrated
Revisado: 05-12-16
What disappointed you about Darkness Falls?
Honestly I couldn't even finish this book (which is quite rare). The story constantly jumps around: The protagonist is 14...no he's not he's 16....here's what happened when he was a kid...now he is a kid...but he's 16...he's in a bunker...are they now talking about someone different?
The story was just very hard to follow and seemed disjointed and incoherent. At several points I lost track of what was going on and finally gave up. I don;t understand the positive reviews, but to each their own I suppose.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Clarification and better organization.
How could the performance have been better?
It sounded like the narrator was reading a book to a child as others mentioned.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment. I didn't even want to continue.
