Boring
Revisado: 12-03-24
I read the previous Keera Duggan book and liked it. This one I found lacking in suspense with a predictable outcome. Very little court room drama which I was expecting. The person she represents is very unlikable which is the main emphasis of the story. I grew tired of hearing about the relationship the two had in their earlier life. The difunctional family issues emphasized in the previous novel resurface.

The best of the series
Revisado: 12-08-23
Having read or listened to all the Lincoln Lawyer novels, I rate this one the best. Harry Bosch has a major role in the story which adds considerably to the impact. The basic story relates to a woman falsely convicted of a crime. Bosch and Haller take on her case to get her out of jail. Story is well written with no irrelevant padding. Pace is excellent with lots of unanticipated turns and tension.

His Best Novel
Revisado: 11-09-23
The story and narration are excellent. Have read most of Eskens’ novels. Liked them all but this was his best. Two different stories going on and both were cliff hangers. Wasn’t clear how the two would be solved until the final chapters. There are a number of bible references which the main character wrestles with adding to the overall interest of the story.

Emma Gray is a young attorney with beauty she’s unaware of and grit that’s easily overlooked. But all she really wants is the ordinary life she didn’t have as a child. On a rainy night in Boston, she walks into a pub to meet a group of colleagues. Conversations and cocktails flow, but something more sinister is at play. Not everyone will survive the night.

Way too melodramatic
Revisado: 03-03-23
I found this novel hard going. Might have been easier to read than listen to. The writing is very melodramatic and the narrator makes it worse. Lots of beautiful prose but very little of it relevant to the story. The main character comes across as weak, whining all the time, frequently panicking and needing vodka to steady her nerves. The Boston police are made to seem somewhat inept at least in terms of DNA analysis. The story itself is interesting and that kept me going. Although, the twists at the end seemed somewhat contrived and implausible. Sorry I paid money for this novel.

Interesting plot but way too much narration. The author loves to write and write and write. The story takes way too long to unfold. By the time I finally got near the end, I was losing interest.

Good Story

An interesting story , with good pace and some interesting twists. Joe is a very likable character. Narration okay but female voices are weak. Also, I found the narration somewhat slow, so I speeded it up.

Lots of Misery
Revisado: 03-02-20
Probably easier to read this book rather than listen to it. It is about a nurse held in a Japanese prison camp and the effect it has on her life during and after imprisonment. Just when you think it can’t get any worse for her, it does. I found it hard to listen to , hour after hour, with so much anguish.
Narrator not great. Men sounded all the same.
