great listen
Revisado: 05-03-15
This book is one of my favorites it was very well preformed. The pacing was good, accents added not distracted.
Between many of the chapters, there was a weird musical interlude. I didn't much care for those, but that is a personal preference, I'm sure.

good story
Revisado: 04-24-10
Preface: I am a Lynsay Sands fan. I like her humor and her way of story telling.
Story: I found myself laughing out loud many times in this story. Without many spoilers, the situations that the characters find themselves in were nicely orchestrated. Good times.
Reader: I liked the Scottish burr, but it wasn't consistent. She was pretty monotone and did not use consistence voices for the characters, although sometimes it seemed like she tried. 3 out of 5 for reader, although, she didn't stop me from listening to the story.

Maddie Faraday's life would be perfect if it weren't for her cheating husband, her suspicious daughter, her gossipy mother, her secretive best friend, her nosy neighbors, and that guy she lost her virginity to 20 years ago.
In Tell Me Lies, Jennifer Crusie dishes up a funny, sexy, suspenseful novel about small-town secrets, big-time betrayals and the redemptive power of love, laughter and chocolate brownies.

didn't finish it:
Revisado: 07-26-09
Before you read my review, know that I like Jennifer Crusie. She writes super fun books and I have liked most of the books that she has written (of course some more than others). That being said also know that I didn't finish the novel- I couldn't. Maybe someday I will because I own it, but I was not expecting the book that I got. According to the summary, I expected lighthearted, funny, etc. Not so. I didn't laugh once. Nothing that happened was funny to me-- and I got about half way into the book. Cheating on a spouse isn't funny-- especially when a child is involved. Hitting or beating a spouse isn't funny. And I think I was supposed to be glad that the heroine of the story had a "man friend" to comfort her, but I really wasn't. I didn't like the characters. I was so disappointed with the story, that I had to stop reading the book. That is why I gave it a low rating. The reader was great, though. And I will still look forward to Crusie's books. And since this book, I have read some of hers that have hard topics, that she faces well, I just wish I hadn't purchased or read any part of this one.

if you like that sort of thing . . .
Revisado: 07-17-09
I couldn't finish this book for graphic violence (including violence to children). It was super intense, in my opinion, and I REALLY wanted to finish it. But I just couldn't. After every hour or two, I had to turn it off and wash the dishes or something, just so I could feel better. I like the narrator though. So, if you like that sort of thing, happy reading!

had to skip to the end.
Revisado: 07-17-09
I liked the male narrator . . . but I struggled with listening to the woman. And instead of reading the gender parts, they just switched sections, which disappointed me. After a while, I had to just skip to the end-- I think that if you want to read this story, the old fashioned way might be the best. Happy reading.

creepy
Revisado: 06-30-09
I enjoyed this book, but it wasn't the typical Jennifer Crusie book to me. I didn't see much depth in the romantic part of the story. I wasn't really fond of the "hero." He was kind of a jerk, in my eyes-- and didn't really redeem himself and I didn't get why she liked him so much. The other characters were pretty fun, and some of the situations made me smile (which is why I gave the book a relatively high rating). Some situations were kind of intense, which makes for a fun book. Don't want to spoil anything, but I think it was a relatively fun read.
Narrator was great to my ears!

Historia
A fabulous lost Amazon city once inhabited by women warriors and containing a rare red diamond: it sounded like myth, but archeologist Jillian Sherwood believed it was real, and she was willing to put up with anything to find it - even Ben Lewis. Ruffian, knock-about, and number one river guide in Brazil, Ben was all man - over six feet of rock-hard muscles that rippled under his khakis, with lazy blue eyes that taunted her from his tanned face.

good times.
Revisado: 06-30-09
I rather enjoyed this story. It was predictable in places, but that didn't get in my way of enjoying it. It reminded me of Romancing the Stone- just a sort of romantic adventure. The characters were pretty fun. Some of them were pretty one- dimensional, some were more deep.
The narrator kind of bugged me. She read it fine, but the way she pronounced some words (and the Latino names) kind of made me giggle-- and it wasn't supposed to be funny. So, 3 stars for her. But, her reading didn't detract from the story for me.

Historia
When 15-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder - much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing, not even a smear of blood, to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

wow.
Revisado: 06-30-09
I couldn't "put it down." There is some fun dialog and adventure. Neat monsters and characters. I liked the characterizations and interpretations of mythological creatures. I like the edge that the author took me to- a little uncomfortable, yes, but it was a fun time, none the less. (I don't want to be more specific, so as to not spoil it).
The narrator was okay. Just to grade her, perhaps 3 stars. The voices weren't very consistent--
