Historia
Justin and Libby Denbe have the kind of life you’d find in the pages of a glossy magazine: A beautiful 14-year-old daughter. A gorgeous brownstone on a tree-lined street in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. A great marriage, admired by all. A perfect life. When investigator Tessa Leone arrives at the crime scene in the foyer of the Denbes’ home, she finds scuff marks on the floor and a million tiny pieces of bright green Taser confetti. The family appears to have been abducted.

Disappointing
Revisado: 02-05-25
I love the character Aaron Fork, but honestly this book could have been a short story starting at chapter 30 and still get the scope of the story. I was disappointed that the two mystery characters were barely developed during the unfolding story. All in all, I had a tough time getting through this one.

The Saga Contunues
Revisado: 09-13-24
In this third of the series, I feel again the story line was not nearly as cohesive or tied together as in the first novel. As stated about book two - too many sexual encounters that were not necessary to the story in any way. Again I was disappointed that several of the main players were not fleshed out in greater depth, I think that would have enhanced the story immensely. I also felt this one rambled in parts, especially at the end, and could have used a good edit; however I do enjoy this series.

Feyre has undergone more trials than one human woman can carry in her heart. Though she’s now been granted the powers and lifespan of the High Fae, she is haunted by her time Under the Mountain and the terrible deeds she performed to save the lives of Tamlin and his people. As her marriage to Tamlin approaches, Feyre’s hollowness and nightmares consume her. She finds herself split into two different people: one who upholds her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court, and one who lives out her life in the Spring Court with Tamlin.

The Saga Continues...
Revisado: 09-13-24
In comparison to the first book in this series, I was somewhat disappointed by the story line and the over the top sex; which was completely unnecessary, and didn't enhance the story in the least. Some of the sexual encounters seemed appropriate, but the rest were gratuitous and I found myself fast forwarding through it. In the end, as with so many "romance" novels, the story suffers and becomes rather shallow in the light of too many sexual encounters. It ventures into soft porn rather than a well written story with depth. And I don't think that was necessarily the case here.... but it came close. I also felt that the first book had a much more cohesive and solid story line. It would have been nice if the author had spent even a small amount of time developing some of the other main characters, especially Tamlin. He was such a huge part of the first book, but in the second (and third) he's a very one dimensional character - which is unfortunate.

If You Can Make It Past The First 9/10ths.....
Revisado: 09-13-24
I honestly loathed the first 9/10ths of this book. Don't get me wrong, it was beautifully written and very nicely narrated, but the main character Dolly, and many of the people surrounding her story are truly vile. It was difficult to keep reading past the manipulation, lying, stealing, selfishness, and utter disregard for others in order to get to the bottom line of this story. Finally, in the last 1/10 of the book, the story takes an unexpected turn, and the characters involved until the end are definitely a breath of fresh air compared to the bulk of the story; but before getting there, I kept debating whether or not to just stop. I really can't recommend spending a credit on this story - the only reason I kept at it was because I put my player on 2X to power through. You'd be better off looking up the summary of the book online, without having to wade through endless chapters about a vapid, vain, dishonest, scheming, vindictive and manipulative main character to discover the secret at the end.
This is the first book I've read by this author. This story wasn't my cup of tea, but I would be willing to try another one by her.

Good Story, Not So Great Narration
Revisado: 09-13-24
I found the narration of this book by two different narrators very distracting and irritating. Not their fault, they both did a good job, but the way the story was chopped up into various perspectives depending on the character was not to my taste. For me, it made the story more difficult to follow, and the jumping from character to character was jarring, and grating, so getting through the story was unpleasant.

Revisado: 07-13-24
Finally a fantasy/romance story that has substance and a compelling story line, instead of being vapid, shallow, and an excuse for soft porn. I thought this book was so well thought out, with interesting and compelling characters that were well developed and leave you wanting to learn more. I can't wait to read the next one!

So Glad Another Eragon Book Has Come Out
Revisado: 06-21-24
I thought this book was terrific in many ways. I think Murtagh is an interesting character, and I was glad to see his story fleshed out and start to evolve. I will say that I was disappointed that the story line continues with his victimhood, where he is forced to do unspeakable things against his will. I was hoping for a redemption story where he would be able to break out of that cycle and the burden he carries as a result, and colors everything he does. The story got pretty dark, and stayed there for way too long in my opinion - and it was hard to read about how Murtagh's dragon suffered as well. I was also disappointed in the level of resentment Murtagh carried for Eragon. Resentment that Eragon had no hand in creating and wasn't responsible for. I had hoped that Murtagh would transcend this, but that didn't happen. I think it would've been great to see Murtagh get past his resentment and bitterness, so that Eragon could have been a part of this story. They were pretty great together, and it would have been nice to see them reunite and heal from old wounds. Maybe in the next book? All in all this was a good story that probably could have been edited a bit, but was still a great read.

Historia
Comic and television star Tim Conway enjoyed enormous popular appeal, including a wide readership for his best-selling memoir, What's So Funny? In her own humorous, loving, and surprising memoir, Tim's eldest child, Kelly, reveals that the Conway home life was as riotous and engaging as some of her father's best-known comedy sketches. My Dad's Funnier than Your Dad is her love letter to her father and mother, as well as an account of the warm, laugh-filled world in which she spent her childhood.

Not Just About Her Dad Being Funny
Revisado: 04-09-24
I don't think my view of this book will be terribly popular, but here it is. This book really needs a different title, because as is, it's rather misleading. Not just about being a funny dad for sure. I found parts of this book to be very sweet, and it made me love Tim Conway all the more. I adored watching him when I was a kid, he brought so much laughter and joy to my life. I loved seeing into his parenting style, which seemed to be filled with kooky fun, kindness and generosity, all while still getting his point across. I assumed this book was going to be mostly about him, but it's really about his daughter and her experiences and perceptions of him. That was fine at first; but to be honest, towards the end of the book I felt like I'd been hit by a bus. I had no idea of the abuse Tim Conway suffered at the end of his life, and if you think abuse is too strong a word, it's not. It just kept getting worse and worse, with his wife and stepdaughter becoming more and more drug addicted, neglectful, inconsistent and unstable, while he was at their mercy. Not at all what I expected. I cant' tell you the sadness and rage I felt trying to get to the end of this book. I understand this is his story and that's what happened, but wow, when I put this book down all I wanted to do was cry. Such a downer. I was so upset my head was pounding. How totally depressing. I thought to myself Karma obviously doesn't exist, what goes around surely does NOT come around, and you sure don't reap what you sow, because this kind, generous, and giving man, who brought countless hours of joy and laughter to the world, who was devoted to his family and his friends, left this world in the most horrific way, at the hands of two people who should have loved and protected him. How is that possible? I just can't wrap my head around it. Not exactly the fun story I was expecting. Now that I know the truth of it, it took something from me, because I will never have that purely joyful experience of watching him perform. I'll forever have this sadness every time I see him, my heart aching because of how despicably he was treated in the end. So for me.... I almost wish I hadn't read it.

Historia
It was summer in the mountains when five small children vanished from their nursery school picnic. The heat was stifling that day, the tinkle of an ice-cream van in the air.... Three-and-a-half years later, in the dead of winter, the children are returned to their families...one by one. All except for Ivy - the granddaughter of Homicide Detective Kate Wakeland. The other four children say Ivy is dead.
