Historia
The story of Jonah is one of the most well-known parables in the Bible. It is also the most misunderstood. Many people, even those who are nonreligious, are familiar with Jonah: A rebellious prophet who defies God and is swallowed by a whale. But there's much more to Jonah's story than most of us realize. In The Prodigal Prophet, pastor and New York Times best-selling author Timothy Keller reveals the hidden depths within the book of Jonah. Keller makes the case that Jonah was one of the worst prophets in the entire Bible.

Lots of good things to ponder for one's own life coming out of this book. Most encouraging is the goodness and patience and kindness of God that pursued Jonah, and pursues us.

Informative and mostly fun
Revisado: 06-10-21
I enjoyed the book. It was informative and entertaining. A couple parts lost my attention somewhat, but overall it was good to well done. The voice performer did a great job.
One observation is that for all the conversation on this book about how amazing humans are and how very difficult it is to try to achieve anything close to human level intelligence or consciousness by our brightest AI researchers, the author concludes the book by saying "evolutionary forces" somehow created what we enjoy and experience as humans. That no consideration for intelligent design entered the picture is fascinating.

Historia
Walking with God through Pain and Suffering is the definitive Christian book on why bad things happen and how we should respond to them. The question of why there is pain and suffering in the world has confounded every generation; yet there has not been a major book from a Christian perspective exploring why they exist for many years.

Fascinating and well researched
Revisado: 11-07-20
Wow. What a great book, not to mention a good choice on the narrator. I'm not a medical student or professional, yet this was just fascinating. So much interesting history of how we got to where we're at today in our health care capabilities and expectations for quality of life. So much we take for granted.
As one with a Christian worldview, all the stories in here remind me of the wisdom and goodness of God in creation and throughout history.

Not what I expected
Revisado: 08-08-20
I gave up about half way through the book. I just didn't connect with it and the story it was telling. I was expecting more stories and lessons about how believers engaged with people and the culture around them in the course of normal life and business.

Revisado: 08-08-20
I'm contemplating buying the book after listening to this because there are so many ideas shared here worth highlighting and pondering. It would also be a great book to give to others who care about continuous improvement.
The author did a great job reading and presenting the material. I listened at about 1.3x speed which is my norm, but at times considered slowing it down.

Helpful to some degree; probably better to read
Revisado: 01-29-20
Helpful overall, but I found myself at times just wanting to get through the chapter / book. For me, I probably would have gained more on this topic if I had read the book instead of listened to it, as I could have more easily paused throughout to contemplate how to relate the concepts to my company and work. The narrator was kind of dry. The inclusion of other narrators to tell some of the stories provided relief at times, but the stories weren't overly captivating.
