Historia
Anne Gallagher grew up enchanted by her grandfather’s stories of Ireland. Heartbroken at his death, she travels to his childhood home to spread his ashes. There, overcome with memories of the man she adored and consumed by a history she never knew, she is pulled into another time. The Ireland of 1921, teetering on the edge of war, is a dangerous place in which to awaken. But there Anne finds herself, hurt, disoriented, and under the care of Dr. Thomas Smith, guardian to a young boy who is oddly familiar.

Beautiful love story and historical drama
Revisado: 03-22-21
Beautiful historical drama set during the Easter Rising in Ireland combined with a tale of time travel. I didn’t know much about the Easter Rising until I read this book, and I’m sad I did not pay more attention to this time period when visiting Ireland a few years ago. The story kept my attention throughout, weaving back-and-forth between Thomas’s journal entries and Ann’s experiences. Similar to the series Outlander, the book has a satisfying ending that is also suspenseful, full of historical detail, and a depth of the relationships between characters.

A story of strength, weakness and love.
Revisado: 02-11-18
Wow! How a person endures difficult relationships and circumstances is beautifully articulated in this novel. The narration was top-notch. The story was a roller coaster of emotional with a final satisfying conclusion. Thanks to Kristin Hannah for an insightful novel.

Enjoyable Story
Revisado: 05-08-15
I enjoyed learning more about Mesopotamia BC in this audiobook. The story kept my attention from the very beginning, fairly fast paced. Glad to have listened to it as the names of characters and places would have been challenging to read and pronounce. Shauna Roberts could easily expand on this short book as the time period is very interesting and the characters could have been developed more.
