On the one hand, there is a lot of emotion in this book. A lot of sass and some very witty passages. I enjoyed those parts, despite the abundance of pretty dark material in Tyler's recollections.

On the other hand, there is a lot of seeming rambling. Their inner thoughts sometimes seem to just meander, which--while realistic--takes a lot away from the building tension. Additionally, the book takes place over a fairly short period of time, so I find it difficult making that fit in my mind.

The narrator isn't bad, but when he's not reading direct dialogue, his affect is kind of flat. The story is pretty good, but nowhere near my favorite of Susi Hawke's. The characters are intriguing, and I may pick up the sequel, but I doubt I'll be listening to the audiobooks. I just really don't care for his characterizations.

This is my favorite of the entire series. Once again, Michael Pauley kills it, and Davey remains as sassy as ever! The fact that the Santa here is his father is just priceless, especially when Cameron comes into the picture. I mean, come on. Christmas, cocoa, clueless cuteness?? Definitely recommend it!

I seriously love this series. Every personality is distinguishable, and they all fit together perfectly. Add in John Solo's narration, and I think I'll go listen to it again.

Reluctant mates. Sassy mates. Hurt mates needing comfort. Susi Hawke's adorable writing. And John Solo somehow all of the crazy personalities perfectly. Highly recommend!

They make one that’s even better! The story is quirky, heartbreaking, and hot! Oil may be my favorite character in the whole series (which I feel like I say every time I read or listen to a new book in this series. Marshall breaks my heart. And once again, Michael Pauley slays it!!

This is probably my favorite book of the entire series. Gabriel's strength in getting over the things that happened to him (not easy to listen to, so trigger warning if sexual abuse, trauma, and ptsd are triggers for you) mesh so well with Cedric's own issues, as well as his need to see Gabriel made whole.

You definitely should listen to the rest of the series first, preferably in order, but at the very least, listen to book 3, Stay, which sets up Gabriel's story through his brother Adrian.

Michael Pauley is never allowed to retire. He is too good at this.

First, Adrian is the best character in the series. He is a former-villain, who becomes so easy to empathize with in this story that it completely changes your mind about him. That is not an easy feat.

I will say that the dynamic of him and Stirling is a little out of the norm, which was an adjustment for me, but the writing and narration is so amazing, I don't really care. Stirling is very easy to understand as a person, and his devotion to both his traditional family and the one he builds throughout the book makes you care more about his happy ending than almost any of the previous books.

If you haven't read any of the others, start with those, but absolutely continue on with this one!

I had never read any of the series, so after the first 3-4 chapters, I was fairly sure I knew where the story was going (I avoid summaries. I like to go in blind). Man, was I wrong. Not only does the story take a few turns I never expected, but the ending is so much better than I would have guessed, especially given the Drake family’s drama.

This was also my first time with a book narrated by Michael Ferraiuolo, and I’m definitely a fan! He has a very particular cadence to his voice, so it takes a very particular story to match it. I can’t wait to start the next one!

Finally got me to like Lucky..

So, Lucky bugged me a bit in the first two books. I don't know why, but something about him just rubbed me the wrong way. Adding Mason into the mix finally let me actually SEE Lucky, and what I saw I liked.

I tend to avoid summaries in my reviews, so I won't give anything about the story away, but these books are very good at following a fascinating group of laid-back, complex men and the men that they can't help but love.
