Cool magic system...wish there was more
Revisado: 03-13-25
I will make this review short and sweet. overall enjoyed the story, though a few key things frustrated me and I wish I knew in advance before getting into this so I will say it here.
1. their is a decent amount of build up and time spent with a character that goes no where basically
2. the women protagonist irks me a lot, she is built up as this strong and headstrong person who is ground down by traditionalist ideas who you think will finally get a satisfying ending....but in the end they kind of mostly just excuse away 15 years of abuse because "she didn't try hard enough"
it was kind of quick and unsatisfying and poor mental health is not an excuse or a reason to forgive emotional abuse for 15 years. (a time skip where they worked through it would have been more satisfying)
there is also a lot of build up to bigger things and things brought up in the past that if they never write sequel ..it's fine, but we def need more stories in this universe to touch on these things. perhaps a prequel or side story about Robin regarding the adventures he basically info drops on her in last hour of the book. or a future store 15 years in the future with a certain girl child (you will know who when you finish it)
just feels like a lot of wasted potential to leave it where it is

Historia
On the island of Kekon, the Kaul family is locked in a violent feud for control of the capital city and the supply of magical jade that endows trained Green Bone warriors with supernatural powers they alone have possessed for hundreds of years. Beyond Kekon's borders, war is brewing. Powerful foreign governments and mercenary criminal kingpins alike turn their eyes on the island nation. Jade, Kekon's most prized resource, could make them rich - or give them the edge they'd need to topple their rivals.

pretty decent
Revisado: 01-05-23
continues to expand on the world, decent voice acting though a bit too heavily reliant on forced drama and written plot conviences to be rated 4 or higher

Historia
Sancia, Clef, and Berenice have gone up against long odds in the past. But the war they’re fighting now is one even they can’t win. This time, they’re not facing robber-baron elites or even an immortal hierophant, but an entity whose intelligence is spread over half the globe—one that uses the magic of scriving to control not just objects but human minds. To fight it, they’ve used scriving technology to transform themselves and their allies into an army—a society—unlike anything humanity has seen before.

Decent but repetitive.
Revisado: 08-18-22
It was a decent end to a book series that honestly declined over time, the 3 novels in series could have even separate books with the tonal changes.
my biggest issue with this is the awkward way everyone keeps re-explainging how the magic system works to each other as if they were not all experts - the audience gets it at this point!, it's clunky and tiresome. (and it's not just like in the beginning for those who may have spent some time between reading them, it happens over and over again during the book. just unnecessary.
