Like a lot of books in the genre, the character is just a bit too powerful, winning basically every fight with minomal trouble. But it's a power fantasy, so that's a feature not a bug. And the writing and narration does a great job of driving home the emotion and intensity in the character's mind

How do they keep hitting it out of the park like this?

I really thought we'd have passed the "jump the shark" moment, by now, but despite the presence of a literal jumping shark wielding a flamethrower, this series manages to keep raising the stakes while still keeping me invested in all the characters and their personal tragedies and victories.

The stellar performance continues

The writing, the characters. and perhaps most importantly (to me) the AMAZING performance of Andrea Parsneau continues to be amazing.

The book itself is an absolutely amazing series. and Parsneau's VA work may be some of the best of our generation.

A standout of LitEPG

The traditional conceits of the genre (an improbably dynamic sequence of events, an overpowered mc, etc) are certainly present, but despite this the author and narrator make the combats sound tense and dangerous even when we know our hero can't lose.

Victor is an endearing MC, and his overpowered skillset is well-countered by a very down to earth personality. Looking forward to the next one!

good, but the writing ia getting repetitive

Overall good, but there is one small thing that has begun to grate on me: the author has been getting a little too hung up on a few specific words and phrases. Terms like "tried to work my jaw," and "in an instant" appear multiple times per chapter. At least they've stopped saying "sussuration" every two pages.

Amazing as always

This one will focus almost completely on Ryoka and River Farm. And witches, a part of the world that has not been well covered by previous books.

Andrea Parsneau is a deity-tier voice actor, as always. And Pirateaba can lay down verse and prose like few authors can. This will sweep you away.

If there's one flaw, I think the audio balancing needed some work. It alternates from too loud to too quiet at a few key moments, though it's a minor gripe and only noticeable during a few parts.

A pleasant power fantasy

For those new to the genre, this kind of book will give you a cocky, overpowered protagonist who constantly slays bigger and badder monsters, with every "loss" being only a temporary setback that leads to another upgrade.

It's a power fantasy with a heavy dose of video game logic, and this series probably falls into beat the top 5 (or at least top 10) entries into the genre.

Comic Books to audio is a tricky thing, amd this book does it at least as well as most other attempt I've seen. It might just not be my favorote genre of audiobook.
