Don't know who gave this 5 stars...
Revisado: 12-19-22
Didn't make it all the way through. if you're looking for a zombie book with cringy characters, or a cringy man who makes jokes even in life or death situations, or two people boo-loving while the world falls apart, then this is for you. If you want a good infection book, read Hot Zone by Steven Konkoly, or Toy Soldiers, or Apocalypse Crusade.

Historia
Blindness is just the beginning. Once the virus strips away everything remotely human, all that's left is a mindless, savage predator. From multi-award-winning, horror writer, Ken Stark, comes a pulse-pounding, post-apocalyptic zombie novel that will keep you pumped up until the very end.

This is why kids don't make decisions
Revisado: 05-24-22
I enjoyed the book and the uniqueness of the zombies and how they came to be. I also liked how Mason's character grew throughout the story. That being said, the situations they find themselves in this story would all be different if he would stop listening to a child. There are multiple occasions where listening to Mackenzie nearly gets them killed and the one thing that angered me was it never getting addressed. Particularly, the situation where the kid holds them captive and Mackenzie stops Mason from killing him...only for the kid to turn around and attack Mason. Of course, it never gets addressed that, once again, Mason was correct. Overall, good story if you can get over the fact that he listens to a kid and nearly gets killed half a dozen times because of it.

Historia
Thousands of crew are reported dead, including the ship’s captain. Reluctantly, the young XO, Galvin Quintos, will be taking command of the fleet's crippled dreadnaught, the USS Hamilton, while doing his best to bring fleet survivors back to Earth. To make matters worse, there’s a murderer running loose on board the ship, critically low fuel levels, and the Grish are back, in fast pursuit and ready to finish what they’d started. Only by sheer luck - and a good measure of cagey smarts - will Quintos be able to rise to the challenge.

Book almost put me to sleep
Revisado: 04-24-22
Only made it through the first few chapters. Of course, the book has to find some way to throw the main character into the hot seat, so the captain get killed off within the first 20 minutes of the book. Everything goes downhill from there. Crew members talk back to their superiors, the main character, as the Commander turned Skipper of the ship, puts himself in the positions the Skipper would never put himself in. The characters act nothing close to professional, especially the main character, who argues like a child with his shipmates. Not only that, there's a lot of info dumping. The one part that pissed me off was the fact that the Hamilton has weapons that the crew members had to figure out how to use. You mean to tell me this crew hasn't been trained to use everything on the ship efficiently? Nevermind the fact that they rely on the AI to do things the crew should be trained to do manually. 1/5 stars. Best thing I did was refund this for my credit.

Chapters upon chapters of setup
Revisado: 02-16-22
I made it 4 chapters in before I got a return on this book. It's nothing but headlines and explaining the South China Sea conflict, as well as explaining what they've done over the past few years. This wasn't the book I thought it would be. if you want a good war book, read literally anything else. Command and Control is tons better than this.

Some errors here and there
Revisado: 10-10-21
I liked the book, especially the submarine combat. However, when it came to air combat, the book dropped the ball slightly. Regarding the surface to air missiles in this book, somehow it can miss, then turn around and reengage. This was like a scene right out of "Behind Enemy Lines". Another error was regarding the call outs to launching an AGM-88. The pilot said "Fox 3", where the actual call out would be "Magnum". Fox-3 is the call out for launching an active radar homing air-to-air missile, not an Anti-radiation missile like the HARM. Overall, it was a good book.
