Historia
As a young, queer couple who flip houses, Charlie and Eve can’t believe the killer deal they’ve just gotten on an old house in a picturesque neighborhood. As they’re working in the house one day, there’s a knock on the door. A man stands there with his family, claiming to have lived there years before and asking if it would be alright if he showed his kids around. People pleaser to a fault, Eve lets them in. As soon as the strangers enter their home, uncanny and inexplicable things start happening.

Historia
In January 1978, I slept in my bed at the Chi Omega sorority house at Florida State University as Ted Bundy stalked nearby. He grabbed an oak log from a stack of firewood, slipped through a back door with a broken padlock, and headed upstairs. He began twisting doorknobs. Room 9 was open, and he quietly and quickly killed one of my sleeping sorority sisters. Across the hall, he found another unlocked door and murdered again. Then, he turned the knob to my bedroom and found it was open. I remember the attack vividly. But Bundy wasn’t my first brush with death, and he wasn’t my last.

I finished this one in a day.
I've always been intrigued by the terrible things humans do to one another.
I love that this story is an unlikely survivor's story. This woman, Kathy, literally looked evil in the face that night when she was attacked and has lived to tell the tale.
Written with a fiestiness that made me smile, I love how she debunks the Legend that is Bundy. She breaks it down into the miserable, less than average lil evil human he actually was.
I believe her.
Her story is filled with struggle, from illness as a child to being a survivor of a brutal attack as a young woman, to cancer as an adult. Yet, she lives. Even so, she speaks her truth.
This book served as a good reminder for me (an avid consumer of true crime) to be mindful of how and whom I support in the true crime world. The victims' memory and their families' well-being should ALWAYS be at the heart of the true crime entertainment we consume as true crime junkies. It's our responsibility.
I'm glad I listened to this one.
God bless this woman and her strength. ❤️

Historia
Daphne always loved the way her fiancé Peter told their story. How they met (on a blustery day), fell in love (over an errant hat), and moved back to his lakeside hometown to begin their life together. He really was good at telling it…right up until the moment he realized he was actually in love with his childhood best friend Petra. Which is how Daphne begins her new story.

Historia
After Lucy is found wandering the streets, covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood, everyone thinks she is a murderer. Lucy and Savvy were the golden girls of their small Texas town: pretty, smart, and enviable. Lucy married a dream guy with a big ring and an even bigger new home. Savvy was the social butterfly loved by all, and if you believe the rumors, especially popular with the men in town. It’s been years since that horrible night, a night Lucy can’t remember anything about, and she has since moved to LA and started a new life.

Cute, quick romance!
Revisado: 10-11-23
I have read/listened to books 2 and 3 now in this series and I really like this group of characters! Dhara did a great job incorporating a diverse group of friends/fam/found family. The story moves quickly (easy read).
As with most of her books, the diversity and cultural references are A++.

Historia
Eric was born a billionaire, but his take on life was different from that of his father. His father was a visionary, a self-made man, and a renowned workaholic. Contrastingly, Eric valued his experiences, his friends, and his family. Eric visited his grandmother every Christmas who lived in Flagstaff, their hometown. He dated Layla as a teenager, whose father owned a local Indian restaurant in Flagstaff. Their relationship progressed from being friends to lovers, as they kept seeing each other every holiday season. The wealth disparity never bothered them before.

Meh. Cute story
Revisado: 07-25-23
This story follows Eric and Layla, who dated for a time and went their separate ways. He's white American and she's Indian American. The cultural stuff is always cool in these stories. The miscommunication trope here is one of my least favs. The story still works, the characters are still cute, but this one didn't draw me in like others from this author has.
