Liked the concept, but many things irritated me
Revisado: 05-19-14
Would you consider the audio edition of The Testing to be better than the print version?
No
Would you recommend The Testing to your friends? Why or why not?
Yes with reservations. I would recommend they read rather than listen.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
I didn't care for the narrator used for the audiobook. Her male voices were terrible, but the female was not great either. I definitely plan to physically read the future books if the same narrator is used.
Any additional comments?
I liked the concept of this book and did enjoy reading it. However, there were many things that irritated me. I found at times that many things/plot points/decisions seemed too perfectly laid out for the character. For example, it seemed that out of a large group of brilliant people, Cia was the only one capable of making rational decisions. It seemed that she just jumped to the correct conclusion every time and just knew what had to be done.
On the other hand, so many things were just too random. The main character Cia was singled out as special from the very beginning by an official who had never met her. It almost seemed that the author was trying to make a Katniss out of Cia but without having any reasoning. (No televised interviews found in the Hunger Games, or even the entire first Hunger Games which was what made Katniss a symbol of revolution.)
I liked the adventure of the story, and found especially the 4th stage of testing to be very interesting. The reason I rated it as highly as I did was that it maintained my interest. I wasn't overly fond of any of the characters, and thought they were all too inconsistent. One of the only major questions presented goes completely unanswered. (this is why I'll continue reading the series) It does have potential, and I'm hoping things improve in the second book.

Surprisingly Great!
Revisado: 09-05-13
What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Accents! I love listening to books where the characters have any sort of accent; I have a really hard time imagining the accents myself. :)
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The ending. (Don't want to give anything away)
Any additional comments?
I really only bought this book because I'd received it's sequel from the publisher for reviewing purposes. (And I cannot read a second book before the first) I started the Sweetest Dark not knowing what it was about and I have to say that I really enjoyed it.
So many of the YA books out right now are so similar, (don't get me wrong, I still enjoy them!), but this one just pulled me right into the story. I felt like I was there with the characters, and that's what made it stand out to me. That feeling is what keeps me reading!

Gorgeous, charming, and witty, he’s everything you could ask for in a boyfriend - but his destiny is so much more. Interesting Second Book
Revisado: 06-07-13
Any additional comments?
I thought Until I Die was just as interesting as the first book in the series. One thing I really liked about it in comparison to other second in the series books is that there was no giant drama/fight between the couple who fell in love in the first book.
I enjoyed learning more about the history of the Revenants and am definitely excited to read the next books. During the first book, I just really liked the whole idea of the Revenant but didn't really care for any of the characters all that much. I'm still feeling that way to a certain extent. I'm not super wrapped up in the romance between Vincent and Kate which is a bit of a let down. I am much more interested in the world/story that Amy Plum has created. The character I find my self most interested in is Jules. I'm hoping to find the relationships and people more interesting in the next books.

Loved it!
Revisado: 05-12-13
Would you consider the audio edition of Doctor Who: The Angel's Kiss to be better than the print version?
Yes. Definitely.
What did you like best about this story?
I listened to this book during a break in the new Doctor Who episodes, so it was a very nice Doctor Who fix for me.
What does Alex Kingston bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
It's so much better to hear River's voice than to just read it for yourself.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There's a part in the book where she makes a comment about her name, (I don't want to give the exact quote) but I was cracking up laughing. I really enjoyed the whole book, but that part really stood out to me.
Any additional comments?
Let me just say, that I LOVE River. She may be my favorite TV character of all time. (aside from the Doctor, of course) So, basically, I had no choice but to love this book. It was sassy and funny and just very River. As much as I enjoy watching episodes with her in them, it was so much fun being inside her head. It was just perfect. Oh, and the fact that it was narrated by Alex Kingston of course made it that much better. :)

Today should be one of the worst days of 17-year-old Hadley Sullivan's life. She's stuck at JFK, late to her father's second wedding, which is taking place in London and involves a soon to be step-mother that Hadley's never even met. Then she meets the perfect boy in the airport's cramped waiting area. His name is Oliver, he's British, and he's in seat 18C. Hadley's in 18A.

Quick, Sweet, & Funny
Revisado: 07-25-12
Have you listened to any of Casey Holloway’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not listened to any other performances by this narrator, but i think she fit Hadley's personality well and did a good job.
Any additional comments?
The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight was such a cute, heartwarming story! Hadley is headed to London for her father's wedding, and nothing goes the way she expects starting with missing her flight. Basically, the whole day ends up a series of lessons for Hadley that she really needed to learn. While the book was fairly predictable, it was alsoreally sweet and charming. Oliver had such a sweet personality and a great sense of humor. His and Hadley's chemistry was great.
Overall it was a really quick fun listen. I think the author captured a lot of the feelings a teenage girl facing her parent's divorce / new lives apart would be experiencing. It was perfect for a rainy day and well worth the credit.

Revisado: 07-21-12
Where does The Selection rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Near the top.
Which character – as performed by Amy Rubinate – was your favorite?
She does an excellent job with them all, but I especially loved America.
Any additional comments?
I downloaded this book because of the cover. (I didn't even know what the book was about when I bought it.) I'm so glad I did: I loved it!
A word of warning, it does cut off very suddenly, but I thought it was a great start to a series! It felt basically like a mixture of Hunger Games and the Bachelor. (More towards the Bachelor end, though) It was a lighter read, but it seems like it might become more deep and intriguing in the sequels.
There were parts where I just couldn't stop smiling. The chemistry between America and Maxon was so good. They're one of my new favorite fictional couples. I liked Aspen too, but I loved Maxon!!!
I really can't wait to read the next book.

Mindy Kaling has lived many lives: the obedient child of immigrant professionals, a timid chubster afraid of her own bike, a Ben Affleck–impersonating Off-Broadway performer and playwright, and, finally, a comedy writer and actress prone to starting fights with her friends and coworkers with the sentence “Can I just say one last thing about this, and then I swear I’ll shut up about it?”

As a HUGE fan of The Office, I was super excited to read this book. I already had the eBook when I saw that Mindy Kaling had actually narrated the audiobook version herself. (so cool! Lol) Anyway, it was exactly what I had expected it to be. Super funny and honest-feeling. It was also smart with some awesome references!

I love Charley Davidson!!!
Revisado: 07-21-12
What did you love best about Third Grave Dead Ahead?
Pretty much everything.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Third Grave Dead Ahead?
The beginning chapters where Charley is sleep deprived.
What does Lorelei King bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
So much! Lorelei King is one of my top two favorite narrators. She does an excellent job!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Yes, it definitely had me laughing! I don't know that I've ever laughed harder while reading (listening to) a book.
Any additional comments?
I've said it before, but I'll say it again: I LOVE this series!! I just can't get enough of Charley & company. In the beginning of this book, Charley is almost delirious from not sleeping for almost two weeks straight, and I have to say that it was maybe my favorite piece of fiction ever. It was brilliant!! I laughed and laughed. I just love Darynda Jones' style of writing. I love the way Charley thinks. I'm a huge fan of the Stephanie Plum series, but I have to say that I love this one even more.
The cast of characters is just amazing! I love every one of them. I can't wait to see where this series goes from here. I'm so sad for Garrett. I feel so bad for Charley, and I'm frustrated with Reyes. (he better step it up) I definitely hope things start looking up for Charley and I can't wait to learn more about "what she's capable of."
Oh, and the mystery was slightly predictable, but that's never the main draw for me when it comes to these types of books.

Of the (many) recent dystopias I have recently read, Legend is definitely one of my favorites. The only one I can remember liking better is Divergent. I found it really difficult to put this one down. I liked the characters a lot; June and Day were so much fun and I really felt for both of them and hated the situations they were thrown into. I liked the romance and the athletic elements of the story. A cool story.

The year is 2195. The place is New Victoria - a high-tech nation modeled on the manners, mores, and fashions of an antique era. A teenager in high society, Nora Dearly is far more interested in military history and her country’s political unrest than in tea parties and debutante balls. But after her beloved parents die, Nora is left at the mercy of her domineering aunt, a social-climbing spendthrift who has squandered the family fortune and now plans to marry her niece off for money.

Would you listen to Dearly, Departed again? Why?
Yes! The story was excellent!
Any additional comments?
I can't even describe how much I loved this book!!! It was just amazing! This is the second zombie book I've ever read, and I'm extremely surprised to have loved them both. This one however may be my new favorite book. This was also my first foray into the steampunk genre, and I think I'm going to be a fan.
I loved every one of the characters; I loved the mix of old-fashioned propriety and super advanced technology; I loved the science behind everything; I loved the humor; I loved the dialogue; I loved the emotion; I LOVED BRAM!! It was just. so. good.
The romance was sweet and sexy, and all of the other relationships were wonderful as well. Like all books, it was slightly predictable in a few spots, but I didn't mind at all. Awesome story!
Based on the ending, I'm sure there will be a sequel. I can't wait to read it! The narrators were amazing. I think each of them captured their characters perfectly. I'm actually thinking about going out and buying a hard copy just so I can have it on my shelf. Definitely one of my top 2 favorite books if not my number 1. I will read everything Lia Habel writes. :)
