Delightfully Unhinged
Revisado: 04-29-25
Oh this was such a delightful story. Unhinged and horrific in a way I did not expect. This is a story that does not treat the reader like all idiot. It's begging you from the very beginning "Do you see?? Do you really see?!?!" and you don't until the very end. It was like watching The Best episode ever of criminal minds from the completely lucid and logical point of view of the unsub. Also, the voice acting was superb. The voice portrays every nuance of emotion possible. Beautifully done all around. Among all the caricatures of villains, this emerges as a true masterpiece. A lovely gem that will disturb you.

Historia
Compiled by intrepid journalist Neve Pride, this archive of recordings spans the months after dragons emerged on earth, chronicling the communities that sprang up amid the destruction, the scientists, military leaders, and experts searching for a defense, and those steadfastly seeking the missing. Neve and her young daughter Bex travel among the wreckage speaking to those left behind and surviving, against all odds. Neve records everything for history, and in the hopes of locating a clue as to where the dragons came from and how one might stop them.

I can't stand the main character
Revisado: 04-07-25
The way the main character is written is very well done. I'm not saying the author has done a terrible job. I'm saying the deeply flawed main character is so (insert expletive here) annoying. I loved this concept bc it's like Reign of Fire (the movie) meets world war z. But what I love about wwz is the way the narrator remains respectful of these horrific stories and the trauma the people experienced. He remains respectful of their position and their knowledge and their expertise. THIS CHICK IS ROLLING HER EYES AND I CAN HEAR IT IN THE WORDS AND IN THE NARRATORS VOICE AND IT PISSES ME OFF. If you're speaking to a scientist and you sigh in exasperation and ask "are you going to talk about this one area that you are 1) an expert on and 2) you insist no one will listen to you and you know it's important AGAIN".... that's so dumb that it takes me out of the experience. It's so stupid. AND it's happened MULTIPLE times. I would love to finish this story but I can't because this main character is an idiot. I'm sure there's something redeemable about this story that might make it worth continuing but I can't. Please don't make your protagonist an annoying piece of excrement.

Excellent story
Revisado: 03-24-25
I love the story. It's one of my favorites that I come back to often. I'm a bit hard of hearing so the voice was problematic. The tone was of a frequency that was difficult for me to hear when speaking as Poirot and narrating actions. It was so soft I could only listen on my earbuds. The other voices were excellently done.

Historia
A murder shook a border town in northern Spain. Initially, all signs pointed to a crime of passion, and the main suspect had already been identified. The evidence seemed undeniable, and society was demanding a swift response from the police. However, years later, many doubts arose regarding the investigation and the guilt of the supposed murderer. An engaging story that continues to stir Basque society, revealing deeper and more surprising layers than originally thought.

it really is a great story but....

the AI kept switching between masculine and feminine for the same character and if you aren't paying attention it will confuse the heck out of you; the story is pretty good though

Historia
In August 2009, a 39-year-old policewoman went missing in Tamil Nadu. A month later, her heavily decomposed body was discovered in a drain by a graveyard. She had been brutally violated and killed. As the investigation started, the police detected a pattern in more than a dozen unsolved rape-and-murder cases with mutilated bodies of women turning up in graveyards, drains and empty fields along the highways. It didn’t take the police too long to find out that the perpetrator was a trucker named M Jaishankar.
