Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

Education
Revisado: 07-22-24
Well written; disturbing, historically informative, and hopefully, J. D. Vance will be instrumental in helping in our educational system to educate our children. The politics and automatic advancement of teachers need to be abolished to obtain the educational needs and welfare of students.

Historia
Air Force pilot Captain Carlyle "Smitty" Harris was shot down over Vietnam on April 4, 1965 and taken to the infamous Hoa Lo prison—nicknamed the "Hanoi Hilton." For the next eight years, Smitty and hundreds of other American POWs—including John McCain and George "Bud" Day—suffered torture, solitary confinement, and unimaginable abuse. It was there Smitty covertly taught the Tap Code—an old, long-unused World War II method of communication—to many POWs. In turn, they taught others, and it quickly became a way for POWs to communicate without their captors' knowledge.

Historia
Deeply in debt and worried that his children will be forced to struggle all their lives to make ends meet, Joe Tower hears stories of free land in Oregon and a better way of life. The tale of the "promised land" does not move his wife Emma to support their leaving all they have behind until a catastrophe gives them no other choice. Intimate and glorious in its description of everyday events, thoughts and hopes, this story is an excellent representation of what like was really like back in frontier days.

I have mixed feelings regarding the title; it leaves the wrong impression. The story starts out slowly, picks up once they get on the trail. A different type of story as they are by themselves for most of their travels. I enjoyed the book.

I have read or listen to almost all of Patterson’s books. This one was so awful, I checked that I hadn’t made a mistake and ordered the incorrect book. It reads like a teenage romance with no plot. It was awful.

I always enjoy James Patterson books. They aren’t predictable.
The main characters, and the people who surround them, in his books are great.
January LaVoy has a enjoyable voice and cadence. I first heard her I’m Guilty Wives. It took me a long time to purchase this book as I did not like the title. It turned out to be a very interesting book based in France.

Historia
From the time of the Norman Conquest to the present day, the New Forest, along England’s southern coast, has remained an almost mythical place. It is here that Saxon and Norman kings rode forth with their hunting parties, and where William the Conqueror’s son Rufus was mysteriously killed. The mighty oaks of the forest were used to build the ships for Admiral Nelson’s navy, and the fishermen who lived in Christchurch and Lymington helped Sir Francis Drake fight off the Spanish Armada.

The Forest
Revisado: 10-16-16
First, I really enjoy Edward Rutherfurd's writing; however, I purchased The Forest abridge edition, my mistake and it was horrible. Looking back at the Audible site, I realize now they don't carry the unabridged version. What a disappointment and waste of a credit.
One cannot cut a Rutherfurd novel down to 5 hours. This could have been an interesting book of generations of families. Instead it went 1000 AD to 2000 AD with no description or continuity among the characters. Don't waste your time.
