Historia
From government to business, banks to media, trust in institutions is at an all-time low. But this isn't the age of distrust - far from it. Rachel Botsman reveals that we are at the tipping point of one of the biggest social transformations in human history. A new world order is emerging: We might have lost faith in institutions and leaders, but millions of people rent their homes to total strangers, exchange digital currencies, or find themselves trusting a bot. This is the age of "distributed trust", a paradigm shift driven by innovative technologies that are rewriting the rules....

Amazing insightful book how we trust
Revisado: 01-31-25
Highly recommend this book. Such a great presentation on trust, our culture and the future. I work in analytics and see the power/challenges of ai, data and platforms. This book gave me a lot of clarity about how we trust related to these things and human nature. I appreciated the specific well thought-out examples and research. Amazing read.

Amazing fantasy boom that draws you in
Revisado: 11-24-21
Great book that pulled me in fairly quickly despite world building setup in such series. Liked the book much more complicated then others in a good way. Most character are whole and realistic to the human experience making them easy to connect with enjoy. I am excited for the start the next book in the series.
Narration was very good. Clear unique voices and accents. Only issue was acquired switches from male to female narrators. The transition were strange and didn't make sense to me as a listener.

Widely used in classes, as well as sold to people operating successfully in the business world, the eagerly awaited revision of Influence reminds the listener of the power of persuasion. Cialdini organizes compliance techniques into six categories based on psychological principles that direct human behavior: reciprocation, consistency, social proof, liking, authority, and scarcity.

Historia
Are stars like Usain Bolt, Michael Phelps, and Serena Williams genetic freaks put on Earth to dominate their respective sports? Or are they simply normal people who overcame their biological limits through sheer force of will and obsessive training? In this controversial and engaging exploration of athletic success, Sports Illustrated senior writer David Epstein tackles the great nature vs. nurture debate and traces how far science has come in solving this great riddle.

Amazing insights, great story with naunce
Revisado: 09-21-21
Engaging masterpiece. A thought provoking book analysis that doesn't get stuck on one part of the story. Goes in so many directions and everything is tied together unlike similar books that got stuck repeating the same idea that I eventually just put down. Great information and insights that look at different angles. it was easy for me tie research and authors analysis into own life.

Historia
Constitutional fundamentalists read the Constitution selectively and self-servingly. Fundamentalist interpretations of the Constitution elevate certain constitutional rights above all others, benefit the most powerful members of society, and undermine the integrity of the document as a whole. The conservative fetish for the Second Amendment (enforced by groups such as the NRA) provides an obvious example of constitutional fundamentalism; the liberal fetish for the First Amendment (enforced by groups such as the ACLU) is less obvious but no less influential.

Promising but fell flat
Revisado: 04-21-21
Great detail and information. There was a lot of evidence of the advantage of white men, but no really answers to the problems. Lots of anger which seems fair but didn't move past that to answers. It waa draining to read, though I finished the whole thing because there was alot good the style kept making me pause the boom to not to be depressed. Close but not there. Some may like it, just not my jam
