…. It was ok as a one dimensional narrative devoid of the multiethnic and plural society that we live that is both disjointed and intersectioned that plays a critical part in how not only clients show up but therapist. We need more dimensional authors with relevant context.

Revisado: 08-31-23
Charles Blow is one of the best writers in this age bar none. He writes to convey a message to the reader that is digestible without the gesticulations and homages to self about the caliber of literary chops… and this message this manifesto and powerful solution is one that should be magnified to the masses… why can’t we create more perfect versions of Atlanta in every state in the south…

Revisado: 07-13-23
Thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end… pleasantly surprised at much I enjoyed it given the number of these type books I devour in a year and my personal standard setters but this was right up in book one with Mitch Scott and the Gray Man…
Brilliantly written - just the right about of character development and intrigue and above all I appreciated the characterization of the wife having her own in role set of skills without being conflicted about his career!!! Well done!!!!!

Historia
"If it is possible to understand the American paradox, the marriage of slavery and freedom, Virginia is surely the place to begin," writes Edmund S. Morgan in American Slavery, American Freedom, a study of the tragic contradiction at the core of America. Morgan finds the key to this central paradox in the people and politics of the state that was both the birthplace of the revolution and the largest slaveholding state in the country.

The authors brought receipts and wrote the narrative to my experience in education and most recently with the Department of Education… it’s exhausting and one of the worst forms of aggression in todays workplace…… I’ve already recommended it to 20 educated Black women and have purchased copies for my other colleagues as I exit hell.

Historia
Phillips charts the way forward for progressives and people of color after four years of Trump, arguing that Democrats must recognize the nature of the fight we're in, which is a contest between democracy and white supremacy left unresolved after the Civil War. We will not overcome, Phillips writes, until we govern as though we are under attack—until we finally recognize that the time has come to finish the conquest of the Confederacy and all that it represents.

Historia
When the Emancipation Proclamation was signed in 1863, the black community owned less than one percent of the United States' total wealth. More than 150 years later, that number has barely budged. The Color of Money pursues the persistence of this racial wealth gap by focusing on the generators of wealth in the black community: black banks. The catch-22 of black banking is that the very institutions needed to help communities escape the deep poverty caused by discrimination and segregation inevitably became victims of that same poverty.

Historia
Today's feminist movement has a glaring blind spot, and paradoxically, it is women. Mainstream feminists rarely talk about meeting basic needs as a feminist issue, argues Mikki Kendall, but food insecurity, access to quality education, safe neighborhoods, a living wage, and medical care are all feminist issues. All too often, however, the focus is not on basic survival for the many, but on increasing privilege for the few. Author Mikki Kendall takes aim at the legitimacy of the modern feminist movement arguing that it has chronically failed to address the needs of all but a few women.

Welcome to the 21st century, the time when racism is alive and well, even though everybody claims they live in a post-racial society. In order to fight the racist thought, it is essential that people first understand how racist ideas were developed, disseminated, and enshrined in American society. Written by Seymour Abrahams, American Racism Paradox explores the idea of racism from the day it appeared until today.

Skimming the Surface….
Revisado: 10-19-22
As an intro this is a decent analysis that encompasses just the surface of race and racism in America with kind of a survey approach to the oppression. Like most texts far too many in fact there is little to no mention of the advantage. What is the advantage of the oppression of racism and who is advantaged. .
