Historia
Following echoes between generations which defy normal time and space, a multilayered narrative celebrates the Rougeaux family triumphs while exposing the injustices of their trials. It begins with Iya, born in Africa in the 1700s, and brought to the Caribbean island of Martinique as a slave, and her two children, Adunbi and Abeje, who grow up on a sugar estate. The siblings endure because of the kindness of fellow bondsmen and their uncommon abilities.

Excellent reading experience
Revisado: 10-10-22
The way the story drew me in from one generation to the next made me want to keep reading/listening for more.
I am looking forward to more from Jenny Jaeckel. What a debut!
Bahni Turpin is one of my favorite narrators and she does exceptionally well on this book.

Historia
Martin and Peggy Chance believe love should last a lifetime. With their fiftieth wedding anniversary on the horizon, they’ve modeled a beautiful relationship for their three grown children. But to their dismay, that lesson hasn’t quite caught on—the three siblings just can’t seem to take a chance and find love in their own lives.

Not a fan.
Revisado: 09-07-22
The writing needs better development of the characters/siblings, they all are so immature. This was painful to listen to. It took me three times as long to finish this book because it was so silly. The narration was not good, Ford was bad but Cooper was unbelievably bad.
This is my 2nd Meghan Quinn book. I forgot I was done after the first book. There will not be a 3rd.

Historia
Stable, safe, predictable—all words that aptly describe Professor Nadia Day’s life. An existence she’s carefully crafted for herself despite her unconventional upbringing and what, to her, is an unseemly past. The last thing she would ever do is rock the boat when it comes to her life and livelihood. When retired football player and single dad, Nathan Moore, walks into her psychology classroom, all fine and dreadlocked, he does more than rock her boat—he rocks her world and causes her to question her buttoned-up existence.

if he was so dominant why did he wait so long to contact her after graduating. if she was so intelligent and mature why did she do and say some of the most idiotic things. the extra characters were too extra and the narration was very irritating. by far her worst book.

Life, Unrealistic and Ridiculous
Revisado: 12-07-21
I stopped three chapters in and this was after I skipped portions of those chapters. Who would put up with this type of life, especially a 27yo? It was too unrealistic and silly for me to continue.

Predictable and slow
Revisado: 12-07-21
I struggled to complete this book. I actually skipped portions because the narration was like nails on a chalkboard! Horrible accents and the dragging out of parts was difficult to get through. If I read it I would have skipped even more.

could have been better
Revisado: 09-19-21
It took me almost a week to listen to this book. I fell asleep on it several times and switched to other books that were more enjoyable. It has been noted in other reviews the many stereotypes protrayed and some that were that so racially biased that it was offensive. And the saying something but not really saying over and over again was really irritating.
The narration overall was good which is probably the only reason I was able to finish.

Even though she is beautiful, intelligent, and makes six figures a year as a high school principal in Washington, DC, one man after another has failed her. So she decides to give up and join the party by adapting the entire "friends with benefits" mentality with a couple of men that she beds on the regular but refuses to hold any kind of real conversation with, in fear that she might actually catch feelings.

first and last Zane
Revisado: 01-14-20
I was expecting exceptional writing based on the high Zane book reviews. The story was more social and political commentary with a weird love story thrown in. If you take out the "what's wrong with the world today" opinion outbursts, the book would be a chapter.
"Can I get my money back?" My outburst after suffering through this book!
