Historia
Court Gentry is known as The Gray Man—a legend in the covert realm, moving silently from job to job, accomplishing the impossible, and then fading away. And he always hits his target. But there are forces more lethal than Gentry in the world. And in their eyes, Gentry has just outlived his usefulness. Now, he is going to prove that for him, there's no gray area between killing for a living-and killing to stay alive.

Lacking Research
Revisado: 08-19-22
It’s frustrating to listen to or to read books that are set in Europe with European characters but are written with American mannerisms, habits and language traits, it’s lazy.
I also did not get invested in the main character either, to the point where I didn’t care if he lived or died in the end. He had so few redeeming characteristics.

Historia
AD 2204. An alien shipwreck is discovered on a planet at the very limits of human expansion - so Security Director Feriton Kayne selects a team to investigate. The ship’s sinister cargo not only raises bewildering questions but could also foreshadow humanity’s extinction. It will be up to the team to bring back answers, and the consequences of this voyage will change everything. Back on Earth, we can now make deserts bloom and extend lifespans indefinitely, so humanity seems invulnerable. We therefore welcomed the Olyix to Earth when they contacted us. But were the Olyix a blessing or a curse?

What’s god got to do with it?
Revisado: 09-15-21
Although I enjoyed this book and love John lees reading style, it does grate on me that Peter Hamilton insists on bringing a divine creator into his stories. Its distracting and the one element that makes me want to classify his books more in the fantasy section rather than science fiction.

This can’t be the end!!
Revisado: 07-10-21
I had never enjoyed fantasy before listening to these books, TGR brings Correia’s books to life like no other.
I love the characters, the setting, the consistency throughout the books.
The geographical references are so descriptive and clearly defined, I can almost imagine being able to navigate the world of Lok myself.
I really hope there will be a fourth part to this trilogy ;-)

A little slow, repetitive and gung-ho. I can’t imagine the dialogue between such high ranking people to be so basic in situation of such high stakes. The reader was a bit monotonous for what was already a fairly dry book.

Good story well read ruined by massage music
Revisado: 04-25-21
The story is nearly unlistenable due to the noise pollution in the background. It’s very distracting. I really enjoyed the first 5 books in the series but I had to return book 6 due to the sound effects and odd production. This one is better but would be excellent without the noises and Thai massage music in the background.

Long winded monologue
Revisado: 02-03-21
Far too much explanation and not enough mystery also the use of “me” as opposed to “I “ or “one” just seemed to drag the quality down too much for a period drama. Respect where it’s due, A tough choice to follow on from Agatha Christie, nevertheless I found myself skipping forward to get through the monologue.

Down to earth and gripping.
Revisado: 07-18-19
Despite the predictable ending I found myself gripped and wanting to listen without missing any part of the story. The reader has a flexible voice and has a mastery of northern British accents.
My only criticism (and most American writers do this) is that, despite the book being set in Britain and read by a British actress, Americanisms (mostly nouns) permeate the book throughout which suddenly remind one that it’s just fiction.

Enthralling
Revisado: 06-24-19
I love these characters and the story behind each of them. Reynolds tends to stick within the laws of physics which turned me on to him in the first place and has kept me a fan despite the odd breach here and there! John lee’s reading of this keeps one wanting more and it’s easy to get sucked into the adventure. I’ve listened to the revelation space series at least 4 times and get something out of every time!
